Title: Cowling Install
I must have been blessed by the cowling fairies or something as the install went pretty easy! I installed the oil access cover yesterday (Saturday) and worked on aligning the cowlings. Mounted them together according to the TWTT instructions (not the installation instructions) and used a lever to push the cowling up against the joggle in accordance with the installation section (Step 4). You need to use both the TWTT and Cowl Installation instructions....IMO. I met all the criteria in Step 4 so I did not add any additional fiberglass. Set the spacing laterally and longitudinally from the spinner center line. Since I knew my spacer fixture is not really “round” I measured the centerline and worked off that for all measurements. Drilled, then upsized to 3/16” and countersunk all holes except as noted within instructions. All-in-all..I'm really happy with the fit. I have to holes one firewall that are too close to a rivet so I'll need to remove the rivet and set the nutplate....solvable issue. I also need to cut the trike access slot a little bigger. TWTT = 5/8” Cowl instructions = 1/2”. The Cowl instructions are correct.
