I made the decision a few months ago that I would outsource the painting to a professional as its one of those areas that I know I could do but it would take me a lot of time and possibly, a lot of rework. There is a paint booth across from my hangar and for the past 7 years, I've been watching the guy that paints in there get better and better. His prices have gone up but are still pretty reasonable, IMO. I was originally scheduled to have it painted in June but one of his customers was not ready so he called and asked if I wanted his slot...I jumped on it and we removed all the control surfaces on Monday and had the plane to him on Tuesday. He is really making good progress and I'm pleased with his level of detail.
