Title: Drilling wing struts using jig
We borrowed from Glasair Aviation as a special wing strut drilling jig. This jig allowed us to accurately align the holes so the close tolerance bolts which hold each milled strutting fitting to the cross members in the wing. We first supported each wing with a fabricated wooden structure and carefully checked the dihedral using a digital level. The drilling and then, very careful reaming process was slow using Boeshield lubricant. Stratford brought in his 1/2" air drill because it turned much more slowly than our smaller Sioux air drill for the initial hole drilling. This process involved all of us...definitely a major job spread over a number of days.
