1. Cut out two small rectangles of scrap aluminum to fit on the firewall flange between the lower cowl hinges and the Skybolt fasteners above them. Drilled, dimpled and riveted them to the flange. (Without these pieces, there would be a 1.5" gap that would be visible.) 2. Attached the intake snorkel, then attempted to attach the lower cowl. There's a bit of binding that may prevent me from doing this until I remove the cowl fitting jig from the prop hub. I'll have to think about this before I remove the jig. I don't want to remove it, and then find out I need it, in order to accurately install the horizontal row of Skybolt fasteners.
