Dec 03, 2020     ON HOLD Category: Research
I have purchased a Zenith CH 601XL project and will be finishing that first.

Sep 25, 2019     DE-construction - (1 hour) Category: Empennage
I purchased this project with some work already done, but I found areas that I wasn't happy with as far as good construction practices, especially with the foam and fiberglass. I knew this was the case before I purchased it, and am currently in the DE-construction phase.
I have removed all foam and fiberglass from the empennage.

Sep 25, 2019     DE-construction - (3 hours)       Category: Fuselage
I purchased this project with some work already done, but I found areas that I wasn't happy with as far as good construction practices, especially with the foam and fiberglass. I knew this was the case before I purchased it, and am currently in the DE-construction phase. The picture is as it looked when I picked it up.
Removal of the existing turtle deck is complete - I am back to the "Boat Stage" with some clean-up of the interior left to go.

Feb 08, 2019     Engine Parts Category: Engine
Bought the major components for the UV engine, much work has already been done - the case is cut, top and back plates cut, and heads modified.

Feb 08, 2019     Manuals - (1.0 hour) Category: Research
I am using the UltraVair manual and William Wynn's Corvair manual to convert the Corvair into the 2-cylinder UltraVair aircraft engine. I also found the 1965 Corvair shop manual online and downloaded the appropriate pages for the assembly of the engine which provides torque specs and detailed instructions as well.
I will also pick up Richard Finch's book "How to Keep Your Corvair Alive" if needed.
