I am in the process of plans building a Sonex, tri-gear, straight tail and have been logging all of my work on a different site. Now that EAA has provided this builder''s log, I will try to share my work up to this point, but it will probably take awhile to include all of the previous entries I logged on the other site.
I enjoy fabricating, so I am building my aircraft from scratch (from Sonex plans). However, Sonex only offers the detailed plans to scratch build the legacy (original Sonex) design. Sonex Aircraft recently made major improvements to the design, and branded it as the Sonex B model. I want to have the updated ""B"" model, so I purchased the B-Model conversion kit from Sonex, which includes what is needed to convert the wings and the fuselage, from the turtle deck forward. Basically, this means that I am scratch building from the tail forward to the turtle deck, and the conversion begins at that point. I began this project in July of 2017 and spent the first year and a half fabricating parts, labeling, cataloging & placing them on the shelf (basically building my own ""kit""). I then started assembling. So far I have completed the tail section and almost have the right wing completed. Once the right wing is completed, my plan is to assemble the left wing and I will then move on the the fuselage. To date I have logged a little over 700 hours on the project.
