Mar 31, 2024     Battery Tray - (2 hours)       Category: Engine
Evaluated several options for the battery location and settled on a middle firewall position. Decided against a full battery box for better accessibility.

Mar 31, 2024     Oil Filter and Cooler - (1.5 hours)       Category: Engine
Evaluated several options for locating the oil filter and cooler. Proposal for now is to mount each of these off the right side engine mount.

Mar 24, 2024     Fuel and Oil Lines - (8 hours)       Category: Engine
Completed installation of hoses and fittings for fuel and oil lines forward of firewall. Still remaining is installation of the oil filter and oil cooler which are yet to be physically mounted.

Feb 27, 2024     Installation Review with Adept Airmotive Factory Engineer Raymond Bakker - (6 hours)       Category: Engine
Review of accessories, engine mount, battery and alternator capacity, turbo installation, air conditioning, etc.

Decided to reconsider a second alternator dedicated to running the air conditioning with ability to back up first alternator. Reviewed how to mount each of these to the engine. Adept will supply the brackets or specifications if more economical build is available locally.

Decided to consider a package air conditioner such as has become common in marine and camping applications. This would simplify installation to wiring and perhaps a drain. Alternatively, package AC units madd for vintage automobiles are being investigated.

Reviewed exhaust routing. Raymond took the two header plates to his next build visit with Lee Brinley who has arranged for the exhaust assembly near his build in Idaho.

Reviewed turbo, coolant, and oil systems routing relative to wiring and hoses.

Reviewed additional wiring and relays firewall forward.

Reviewed cowling. It appears the standard Lancair cowling will provide plenty of space for a radiator and intercooler. The extra exhaust tunnels may be removable to reduce frontal area.

Feb 10, 2024     Gascolator - (3 hours)       Category: Fuel System
Cut and bent 0.062” Aluminum and made mounting bracket for the gascolator. Installation to the firewall is temporary until the through-holes are reinforced when the engine mount is removed for painting.

Feb 07, 2024     Fuel Lines Pumps through Firewall - (4.5 hours)       Category: Fuel System
Completed 1/2” tubing from floor mounted pumps in parallel to the firewall and through, temporary for now to allow firewall reinforcement when the engine mount is removed for painting.

Feb 07, 2024     Mount Engine Control Module - (2 hours)       Category: Engine
Aligned ECM to firewall and installed cockpit side wiring plug through firewall to connect to the ECM. Temporary mounting, as firewall reinforcement is needed for the four through bolts when the engine mount is removed for painting.

Jan 04, 2024     Oil Tank - (3.5 hours)       Category: Engine
Flox'd and reinforced holes in the firewall and attached oil tank.

Jan 02, 2024     Test Cowling - (0.5 hour)       Category: Engine
Positioned cowling from original Continental engine to assess whether it will work. It appears that little modification will be required.

Jan 02, 2024     Engine Installation - (1.5 hours)       Category: Engine
Set engine onto mount using Lord J-7412-24 rubber cushions and temporary bolts (M8 x 1.25” to engine) and AN7-35A from brackets to cushions. Final assembly will use steel locknuts.
