Aug 29, 2023     First Flight!!! - (0.9 hour)       Category: Testing
It finally happened! First Flight Today at KFLY. I was joined by Tony Brotherton, my Qualified Pilot, under the Additional Pilot Program. He was a huge help and support. So glad Tony joined me. Many thanks to family and friends that have helped and encouraged me along this journey. All went very well and can't wait to go again. Yeehaw!

Mar 25, 2023     Interior Complete - (2.5 hours)       Category: Interior Finish
Finally finished installing the interior! Happy with how it turned out. Lotsa work!

Feb 18, 2023     Xtreme Decathlon - (2 hours)       Category: Training
Continuing to train with TW, but now in the Xtreme Decathlon! It's 210 hp and has a constant speed prop. Had a great flight with Ryan and I feel like I was really getting the feel for this plane. We flew some canyons, did steep turns, then several touch and goes on 17R, KAPA. He seemed happy with my performance, and I was awarded my High-Performance Endorsement! Ryan has accepted a job with Mike Goulian ferrying his Extra 300 to and from airshows, plus instructing in upset training and recovery. Really enjoyed Ryan and wish him the best!

Jan 28, 2023     DAR Inspection - (2 hours)       Category: Inspection
After 19 years of building, including two prior aircraft projects, it was finally the day for a DAR Inspection. I spent a lot of time preparing documents, manuals, data, and the aircraft for this inspection. Randy (the DAR) is a great guy that does this on 777s and many other large jets. It was great to have him also inspect my plane! He started with all the paperwork. I fielded questions as he continued reviewing all. This stuff has to be exact, or you have an issue. He seemed to really like the POHs I created, too. We eventually moved to the plane. He looked at many aspects, exercised all the controls for full range and stops, then had me do the engine controls while he watched to make sure of full range and stops again. By the time he finished, he congratulated me and complimented the aircraft. I soon after was awarded my Airworthiness Certificate. N742US officially graduated from a project to a real aircraft! Wahooo!! Tracey was so awesome to help work on the plane whenever I needed help, and she even brought a surprise lunch, sweet congrats card, and awesome bottle of Stranahan's Single Malt! I could not have finished this without Tracey and her undying support. I also have to give a big "thanks" to so many friends and family. My hangar-mate/friend John (RV-9A) has also rolled up his sleeves helped whenever needed (many times...haha) and has always encouraged me! I am truly blessed!

Time to get this thing back together. Continuing with my tailwheel training and then transition training. Not too long and this bird's gonna fly!

Dec 01, 2022     Tailwheel Training - (18.3 hours)       Category: Training
One of the more challenging aspects of building a tailwheel airplane, is getting the necessary training and endorsement. This has been looming for many years. I've had much difficulty finding an instructor and proper aircraft for my profile. Finally, I rejoined Aspen Flying Club at KAPA (Centennial) and was able to train with Ryan in a Citabria (160 HP). I stayed near the airport 11/16-20 with the sole focus of getting this part completed. It was an adventure with two lessons each day and classroom time. Plus, snow, ice, and very cold at times. Ryan was an awesome instructor and taught me well. I look forward to flying with him more! On 11/20....after a final wheel landing on 35L, with slight right crosswind, Ryan felt comfortable to grant my tailwheel endorsement! Yeehaw!!! As he stated, "this is the beginning of your TW training". Well said. Oh...and I also completed my BFR in the process.

Nov 27, 2022     Empennage Fairing - (12 hours)       Category: Fiberglass
As with many, my empennage fairing has fit issues. I began by cutting it in half along the spline. This helped me reposition things, then make more trims. Once things were close to correct, I began laying fiberglass cloth below and on top of the existing parts to fuse them together again. Several iterations of this provided a better fitting piece. I still need to do some final trimming and lots of finish work, but it should be a nice improvement.

Oct 16, 2022     Taxi       Category: Testing

Sep 27, 2022     Canopy Wiring - (2.5 hours)       Category: Canopy
I've had wires for the dash fans and AOA loosely draped on the underside of the canopy for a while. It has always bothered me and I finally took the opportunity to snake wrap and consolidate it all. It cleaned up pretty well. Also, took time to install edge guard where bundles may rub when opening/closing the canopy. Another task off the Pic List!

Sep 25, 2022     Classic Aero Designs Installation - (12.5 hours)       Category: Interior Finish
I've been chipping away at the Classic Aero Designs Interior for quite sometime. There are lots of mounting points and adjustments to make it all to fit. Top notch kit, but not without work. Pretty cool to see what I had in my imagination coming to reality. Happy with it!

Sep 24, 2022     Nav/ Landing/Taxi - (6.5 hours)       Category: Lighting
Continued to work the wingtips and lighting coves. Lenses completed, tips primed. Installed the right side Nav/Landing/Taxi lights. Brighter than ever and looks great!

Aug 08, 2022     Battery Swap - (3.5 hours)       Category: Battery
While at OSH this year, I had several interesting conversations with the folks at EarthX battery. Their battery is LiFePO4. It produces way higher cold cranking amps and weighs only 4.8 lbs! Much better than the current Odyssey PC680 that is about 15.5 lbs. Had to change nutplate types to two of the single tail ones for their mounting box. It is a mirror finish. Looks nice! Was able to utilize the same holes in the firewall. Hopefully this has little effect on CG once I get that figured out.

May 22, 2022     Wingtips - (4.5 hours)       Category: Wings
Continuing on with the wingtip installation. Was able to get the second half of piano hinge inserted on the upper portion and drilled. Looks like everything is good. Trailing edge still matches aileron. Much more stable after doing this. Removed landing light to reach inside.

May 14, 2022     Wingtips - (6 hours)       Category: Wings
I've read much about wingtip installation. I'm using a popular method of installing piano hinge instead of screws to hold the wingtips. Lots of work, but removing the wingtips for future maintenance is only pulling the two pins, rather than hundereds of screws. Also, nice clean look. The tips are pretty flimsy and don't hold shape well. This improves after installation. You must watch the trailing edge in relation to the aileron to match. Making a foam "rib" helps hold the wingtip's shape while in process.

May 01, 2022     First Taxi Test - (1.0 hour)       Category: Testing
Yeeehaw!

May 01, 2022     Fisrt Taxi Test - (0.3 hour)       Category: Testing
First Taxi Test! It was a bit windy, and I have ZERO TW time. In spite of this, Tracey was anxious to join me in the plane for a taxi test! Great to have her company. This was the second engine start and it fired soon, but needed to "clear out" for a minute. We got going a few feet and I tested the brakes. Was only going to taxi down to the end of our row and then return. Nope! Too much fun and CHTs were okay. Continued to back taxi 08, then north to the fuel pumps. Easy place to turn around. Everything went well and no damage. Was really concentrating on those pedals and keeping the nose straight! Fun to have Tracey there for it all!

Apr 30, 2022     Inside View - (2.2 hours)       Category: Interior Finish
While canopy is removed, will finish off several interior projects. It's coming along!

Mar 11, 2022     Miscellaneous - (5.5 hours)       Category: Fuel System
I'm blessed to have the help of my wife, Tracey, and my friend, John in getting hard to reach areas and a multitude of others tasks completed by them. The last several weeks have really been productive. It's really getting closer to engine start with all the help I'm receiving. Thank you both!

Mar 05, 2022     Sticks - (7.2 hours)       Category: Controls
After lots of wiring and routing of things, the grips on the sticks are now fully functional! Fun to press buttons and see things happen. The sticks also operate the control surfaces. Awesome!

Feb 25, 2022     Bottom Rudder Cap - (4.5 hours)       Category: Fiberglass
The bottom rudder cap (fiberglass) has a series of challenges. I've elected to make mine removeable, so I installed nutplates rather than rivets. Also, the taildragger stinger interferes with the rudder cap so it must be trimmed differently to increase clearance. Did that and it looks good. The next issue is the front of the cap makes contact with the aft fuselage with rudder full deflection. I elected to remove this area, make scarf joints and add new fiberglass cloth. For now, I've added two plies of 9 oz. weave. Later, I'll make things look nice with micro and sanding. Appears to fit much better than before and no longer rubs the fuselage.

Jan 18, 2022     Sticks Wiring - (1.7 hours)       Category: Wiring
Getting close to being finished with the wiring for the stick grips. Did some more soldering to conjoin some wires. Pinned the needed ones and inserted them into J1 and J2 connectors on the VPX Pro. Still need to finish securing the bundles and assembling the plugs. Will test everything first, though.

Dec 02, 2021     SCAT Hoses - (4.5 hours)       Category: SCAT Hoses
Final fit and secured the SCAT hoses for the cabin heat. Also, got the 1" SCAT hoses installed for the PMag blast tubes. Turned out well. Lots of tedious work trying to get the Adel clamps and hardware on, but nothing new.

Dec 01, 2021     Firewall Forward - (7.5 hours)       Category: Wiring
Well...I'm about to call the FWF portion of wiring and hoses complete! My goodness, it's a real mind exercise finding routes and attach points for everything and not letting anything touch each other. Pretty pleased how this ended up.

Oct 24, 2021     Smoke Hose - (1.5 hours)       Category: Smoke System
Trying to find a good route for the #1 cylinder smoke line. I believe this will work well by passing it thru the Showplane Oil Cooler mounts, then toward the bottom of the valve covers. I can attach spark plug wires to this hose later. Should be no rubbing on engine cowl.

Oct 23, 2021     Spark Plug Wiring - (3.2 hours)       Category: Wiring
Beginning to find the best routes for spark plug wires to run from the PMags. There are now a LOT of items getting in the way, especially at the back of the engine. I'm using 8mm wire loom clips from Jegs to keep things tidy. Also. got the SCAT tubes final installed for the cabin heat.

Oct 03, 2021     John Flies - (2.0 hours)       Category: Research
John flew today! Perfect in all aspects! Amazing to see!

May 17, 2021     Inner Baffle Fuel Line - (2.3 hours)       Category: Avionics
I located and drilled the inner cylinder baffle for the fuel line the goes from the servo to the spider. Kinda tricky, but not so bad. Protected it with a rubber grommet. The red cube (fuel totalizer) will interface at the top.

May 16, 2021     ADAHRS Calibration - (1.8 hours)       Category: Avionics
Received the replacement GSU 25 ADAHRS unit from Garmin. John and I pushed the plane to a nearby dirt field to avoid ferrous metal for calibration of the magnetometer. Tracey jumped in to give us the incremental commands to turn the plane as it calibrated. It worked! I now see the sky and ground, rather than just plain black on the PFD screen. There is even a little bit of Pike's Peak and the runway on synthetic vision. It just came to life!

May 16, 2021     GPS Shelf - (1.2 hours)       Category: Avionics
Spent a little time getting the GPS final installed. I'm happy with the result. Can be removed to make access to the oil filter easier. Shouldn't be much signal shadowing.

May 01, 2021     AHRS Calibration - (3.3 hours)       Category: Avionics
Got help from Bob and John today. Leveled the plane and performed some of the AHRS calibration and other settings. All that passed. Got the battery installed so we could keep the system alive without a power supply. This was cool, because it's the first time the plane is powered without a cord. We pushed it into a nearby dirt lot because there could not be any ferrous material near the magnetometer for calibration. I was seated inside, while they guys rotated the plane clockwise at the prescribed levels, with a periodic hold. The Garmin System instructs all and makes this easy! Unfrotunatley, I kept getting a "leveling wings" error that could not be cleared. The fun part is when the guys pushed me back from the field while a stayed in the plane "flying". We checked all wiring...no errors. Software was all updated...still not good. We traded my AHRS with John's. They problems disappeared. Now we know I have a bad unit. Have contacted Garmin for a replacement.

Apr 18, 2021     Key Switch and Floors - (4.3 hours)       Category: Wiring
Made a big step today geting some of the wiring installed that will allow the aircraft to run electrical power from its systems, rather than the power supply I've been using. Got a diode soldered onto the starter contactor wire, then ran P-Leads for both sides, ground for the PMags, wires from the ignition switch to VPX, and from the switch to the PMags. When able, I will hook up the battery and I should be able to hit the Master Switch on the poanel, get power to all systems, then if I turn the key, should hear the starter contactor switch. Of course, I'll have the starte disconnected until ready for first engine start. Tracey added more zip tie bases to the flooring and tidied everything up. She does great work!

Apr 08, 2021     GPS Shelf - (1.2 hours)       Category: Avionics
Part of the powdercoating I received includes a GPS shelf I made for the engine compartment. The WAAS antenna is shown and I still have two of the small black Garmin antennas that will flank it to install. Made all this removeable for maintenance. Lives above the oil filter.

Apr 08, 2021     Powdercoat - (2.1 hours)       Category: Baffling
Received over 50 parts I took in for powder caoting a few weeks ago. Decided to go with a dark gray that compliments the leather in the plane, plus plenum logo I paint matched recently. Added a stripe of black RTV to the cylinder wraps to ease chafing. Getting all these parts back is nice so I can install them for good. It is also a bunch of work. Back to it!

Mar 30, 2021     Voltage Regulator - (1.5 hours)       Category: Wiring
Wired the B&C External Voltage Regulator. Running the 60 Amp version. Intergrates partially to the VPX, so additional thinking required. Pretty easy task overall.

Mar 25, 2021     FWF Wiring cleanup - (3 hours)       Category: Wiring
Continued to install wires in FWF. Starting to "clean up" the runs with lots of high-temp zip ties (blue). Looks way better. Also, continuing on with more of the white adel clamps. Really, no fun trying to get these clamped and harware installed. They do a great job, though.

Mar 24, 2021     Baffling Removal - (3.4 hours)       Category: Baffling
Removed the baffling and a bunch of other FWF, plus interior parts to go to powdercoating. I've chosen a dark gray color that ties into other features of the plane. I'll bet there are over 50 parts in this batch. Will be good to get these back and installed in a few weeks.

Mar 21, 2021     Spacing - (3.2 hours)       Category: Oil Cooler
Spent a fair amount of time getting the spacing dialed in between the remote oiler cooler duct and the number 3 cylinder baffling. There will be a piece of weatherstripping that completes the floating seal. Needed to get this done before sending parts out for powdercoat. Notice the duct...more carbon. Replaced the fiberglass stock version.

Feb 28, 2021     Firewall Forward - (4.5 hours)       Category: Wiring
Finally made some pretty good progress with the FWF wiring. Tracey was kind to help again today. Between the two of us, we were able to get my routed bundles gathered and tidied up some. Made some of the larger #2 cables for battery, and #6 for alternator and VPX Pro. Plenty of Adel clamps holding things in place. I have some hope again after this session concluded. Thanks, Tracey!!!

Feb 23, 2021     Brake Lines - (2.2 hours)       Category: Landing Gear
I have stainless steel braided brake lines from TS Flightlines. Good stuff. Found the best route thru the engine mount for these, then down the legs to the Grove calipers. Used tape on the legs first in several spots for protection, then the same tape to attach the lines to the legs. This will later get covered with the leg fairings.

Feb 13, 2021     Valve Covers - (1.5 hours)       Category: Engine
Decided to spring for some custom valve covers from SDS. These are very nice billet aluminum with black anodize. I was able to choose a graphic and went with the Aeropsort logo to match my engine. The other big plus with these covers is they have an o-ring groove around the flange where you install a Viton o-ring. This replaces either the leaky cork gasket or the optional silicone gasket that squishes out once pressed.

Jan 14, 2021     Right Wingtip Lights - (2.5 hours)       Category: Lighting
Last night I was able to finish the wiring for the right wingtip. Decided to fire everything of with the hangat lights off. Pretty cool effect with the instrument panel and cockpit flood lights also illuminated.

Dec 27, 2020     Landing and Nav Lights - (5.0 hours)       Category: Lighting
Fun day! Got the wiring temporarily attached with jumpers to the AeroLeds NAV/Strobes and Landing/Taxi assemlies in the wing tips. Mighty bright!!! I was relieved to hit the rocker switches and the correct light came on, with no smoke. Pretty gratifying after all the mundane work of pulling and connecting wires.

Dec 21, 2020     Wiring - (3.5 hours)       Category: Wings
The wiring process continues. Getting the last side of the higher power connections to the VPX connected. This will include things like strobes, landing, taxi lights, etc. Will be great to hit the rocker switches and hopefully see the results.

Oct 17, 2020     Wings On!!! - (6.5 hours)       Category: Wings
Today was another BIG day on the project. Finished up some aileron alignment (Thanks for the help, Tracey), then decided it was time to hang the wings for the first time. My buddy, John, was great to jump in the plane and get the drift pins installed while I manuevered things from the outside. It didn't take us long, as we have experience with his wings. We then wheeled her out into the sun for a look. Terrific to see! The three of us pulled up chairs and had a few celbratory drinks. Good day.

Aug 30, 2020     Bottom Skins - (4 hours)       Category: Wings
Spent a bunch of time final drilling the bottom wind skin to the right side. Took the skin off and deburred all holes and edges. Ughhh! Still need to dimple it all, then attack the ribs. Then....there is the other wing. Oh well, part of the job!

Aug 28, 2020     Fuel Tanks - (4.4 hours)       Category: Wings
Decided to send my QuickBuild Tanks to a company named, "Weep No More" in MN. QB tanks have a bad reputation for leaking or eventually weeping. I don't want to deal with that, and especially after an eventual high-end paint job. Paul at Weep No More is recognized as a grea solution for Mooney and Van's aircraft guys. He chemically strips the ProSeal fro the tanks, removes the back baffle, and reseals it all in a three part process. Seven year warranty. Had to build a custom crate, which took a bit of time, but the tanks got there and back in fine shape. Paul also installed the trap doors, pickup tubes, and floats per my request.

Jul 30, 2020     Carbon Fun! - (3 hours)       Category: Plenum
More carbon fun. Trying to determine the front height and the trim line relative to the air ramps for the plenum and baffling. Confused.

Jul 29, 2020     Shutter movie - (1.1 hours)       Category: Landing Gear
Range of motion oil shutter.

Jul 27, 2020     Oil Cooler Shutter - (2.5 hours)       Category: Oil Cooler
I took the time to rivet the doubler to the #3 baffle. I decided to use 426 flush rivets on the aft side where the seal lives. Trying to keep a flat surface for the gasket. Was able to put all back together and give it a try. A little cleanup remains on the door clearance, but all works well. Just need to run the control cable and this will be complete for intial installation.

Jun 29, 2020     Sauce - (.1 hour)       Category: Workshop
Got a laugh when I noticed the containers John uses for epoxy.

Jun 16, 2020     Remote Oil Cooler Mount - (3.5 hours)       Category: Oil Cooler
Continued to mount the Showplanes Remote Oil Cooler Mount. Tough access to get some of the hardware installed. Continuing to cut the fiberglass plenum to have 3/16"" clearance from the baffles. This will be bridged by a rubber gasket later.

May 04, 2020     Attaching to the Plane - (4.5 hours)       Category: Filter Box
I spent most of the morning making a doubler plate for the fiberglass bowl. It is know the filter will wear through this area over time. I also made and installed all the filter retaining clips and nutplates. Tracey eventually joined me and she jumped in to help! So blessed to have a wife that will do this. We took the cowl on and off multiple times to get the alignment for the FAB to the vertical induction intake aligned. Not perfect, but pretty good. Had to cut a ""v"" notch into the fiberglass bowl so the front of the part could be bent to match the intake. We are to the point of making the foam block transition with lay up. Another note about Tracey...she is fun to have at the hangar! Thoroughly enjoy her positive atitude, willingness to learn and help, and sense of humor!

Apr 08, 2020     Gaps - (2.3 hours)       Category: Engine Cowl
Continued to get the intakes of the cowl to match by adding flox micro combot, then lots of sanding. It's slowly coming together. It appears I will need to build up the flanges for the bottom cowl, behind the spinner to have enough material for the screws. I may bond aluminum in the lay up so the nutplates are more solid than in fiberglass alone.

Feb 26, 2020     Oil Door - (2.5 hours)       Category: Engine Cowl
Continued working on the oil door. I knocked down some of the excess epoxy and fiberglass cloth around the foam sandwich. Will coat in micro to smooth next, then seal with clean epoxy.

Feb 22, 2020     Spinner Clearance - (1.8 hours)       Category: Engine Cowl
I almost have the gap between the spinner and the engine cowl at 1/4"" all the way round. Lots of taking this off and adding, then sanding filler. Checked the height of the spinner again and it still looks good. Even with the top of the cowl. If it settles a bit, it will still look great.

Jan 29, 2020     Baffle Modifications - (6.2 hours)       Category: Baffling
It is a known fact that the Van's standard baffle kit does not accomodate the ECI tapered cykinders I have on my Aerosport Power IO-375 engine. There are several ways to adjust the wraps of the baffle kit, but I ran across a set of templates produced by some really nice guys on Van's Air Force. I made a set of these, but found out three out of four were backward. Reported my findings on VAF, then went again. Now they look pretty close and will seal the gap around the cylinders. The unnerving part, is you must first cut away the existing flange to retrofit these. Thankfully, it all worked out fine. Whew!

Jan 11, 2020     Fiberglass - (4.2 hours)       Category: Empennage
Continuing to make progress on the fiberglass empennage tips. Everything is now permanently attached and most of the fairing things to the aluminum complete. Closeouts on the aft side of the horizontal stab and vertical stab complete. Several hours of detail work and I will move on to baffling.

Nov 13, 2019     Canopy Seam - (3.8 hours)       Category: Canopy
Pic of canopy split line. Liking how trhe Sika primer adds a "targa" look to it. Fine line tape did the trick to keep this crisp.

Nov 10, 2019     Installed Aft Plexi - (6.7 hours)       Category: Canopy
Lots of planning and masking today, then Sikaflex for the aft plexi. Overall, went pretty well. More to do to get it right. Got help from Tracey and John.

Nov 10, 2019     New Tailwheel - (1.5 hours)       Category: Landing Gear
I've purchased several items for my RV7 from Flyboy Accessories. I had a Bell fork and light weight tailwheel installed on the plane. Since I am still building, it's only been used to roll around the hangar. I was on the Flyboy's site recently and noticed the Condor 2 Fork and pneumatic tire. It appears to be a larger version of the Bell fork that allows the 8"" tire enough room. Several conversations with Blake had me placing an order.

I just received the Condor 2 fork, hub, and tire. My first impression is of a quality part. The split hub is machined beautifully! Standard process to get everything put together. One thing I noticed, the valve stem is really tucked inward and out of the way to avoid the fork. This could be a real challenge to get access to inflate. No worries though. Blake has included a stem extension that takes care of that challenge just fine. Other benefits are reports of decreased ""road noise"" when taxiing. The solid wheels can really transfer the noise of any surface imperfections of asphalt and other materials into the aluminum tailcone. The pneumatic tire should mute some of this. This tire is 2"" lager in diameter compared to my prior setup. So...there is an inch of height increase. What happens if I get a flat? I can still use my lightweight wheel as a backup if/when, as it is interchangeable with this fork. This is a really nice kit that I'm glad to own.

As always, Blake took excellent care of me. Top notch customer service and response to any question or request throughout.

Oct 24, 2019     Site Setup - (1.0 hour)       Category: Research
Began EAA Builder's Log.

Jul 16, 2019     Flood Lighting - (2.7 hours)       Category: Interior Finish
Tracey gave me a hand and we finished off the blue flood lighting in the interior. This is on a dimmer, so easy to adjust brightness. Looks great!

Jun 23, 2019     Powered Panel - (5.5 hours)       Category: Instrument Panel
Spent time cleaning up wiring, taesting some connections, and applying power to the panel. Very happy with how this looks and is laid out. Steep learning curve for me.

Jun 19, 2019     G3 X Panel - (4.2 hours)       Category: Avionics
Worked until dark getting a few more things completed on the panel. Not all sensors, etc. are attached yet, but power and ground to most items are active. Lotsa work, but I'm happy with it!

Nov 18, 2018     On the Landing Gear! - (4.5 hours)       Category: Landing Gear
Up on the gear! Dramatic day to say the least.

Mar 14, 2018     canopy tint - (1 hour)       Category: Canopy
Extra tint is #2514

Oct 09, 2017     Fitting Carbon Panel - (3.2 hours)       Category: Instrument Panel
Continued working on the carbon panel. Getting a nice fit.

Aug 30, 2013     Framework - (3.2 hours)       Category: Instrument Panel
More work fitting the sub-frame for the carbon panel. This is beginning to get sturdy.

Sep 08, 2012     Fuse and Wing Stands - (7.1 hours)       Category: Workshop
I bought some lumber and locking casters, plus grabbed some skids from work that were headed for the trash. Built some stands for the quckbuild fuselage and wings that will arrive in a few months. These should work pretty well and keep the shop ""mobile"". I can get things out of the way when not being worked.

Sep 01, 2012     Unpacking Emp - (2.5 hours)       Category: Empennage
Continued unpacking the kit and making sure it's all in there. Lots of little brown paper bags full of hardware take quite some time to organize in the tackle boxes I bought. All those bins also need labels so I can create a pick list.

Aug 31, 2012     Let's Try This Again...... - (1.0 hour)       Category: Empennage
After much deliberation from losing the previous plane in the Waldo Canyon Fire, I decided to get back into building. It will be hard to start again, now for the third time, but I cannot quit until I succeed.

I'm still getting moved into the new house and have workers in and out each day. I came home from work and look what was in the garage! Two familiar boxes full of work. Time to get with it and make the empennage come to life.

Aug 17, 2012     Setup at New House - (5.5 hours)       Category: Workshop
I replicated the work bench I had at the other house. I'm still thinking about building again. I will use this bench either way. This one is a little nicer and has storage bins that are removeable with little items like, drill bits, etc.
Also, got a great deal on a television and ran RG-6 plus power to have it just above the work area.""
