Dec 19, 2019     Main tank       Category: Fuel System
12 gallon header tank, pretty good shape for being 75. We will test it for leaks, strip it and get some primer on it. Fuselage has at least 2 different colors, maybe 3.

Dec 19, 2019     The heart of our beast       Category: Engine
Continental A65-8. We aren't sure what that black nasty stuff in on firewall but we will strip it enentually.

Dec 19, 2019     Time to start the process - (3 hours)       Category: Fuselage
Inspection and fabric removal starts. This aircraft was very dirty from 30 years of storage.

Dec 19, 2019     First part removed - (.5 hour)       Category: Propeller
Spinner was removed in preparation for propeller removal..McCauley prop. No log records on when the metal prop was installed, I will be sending it to Santa Monica for zero time inspection.

Nov 26, 2019     In the begining - (1 hour)       Category: My Project
I have always wanted to own my own airplane. Earned my private license 30 years ago but life, kids and work pretty much put a halt to that. Now in my golden years I have an opportunity to achieve that goal. My original intent was to build an aircraft from scratch, then one day while I was browsing Barnstormers I saw this Taylorcraft for sale and it was only 60 miles from where I lived. Met the owner, bought it, and also assumed the hangar...what a deal.

The plane last flew in 1985 and spent about 30 years disassembled in a shed located in Lancaster Calif. The high desert dry air preserved the plane nicely. The fabric was in very poor shape and there was a pretty thick layer of dirt on everything, the windshield was distorted a bit, from what my brother in law and I could tell, it was a very complete aircraft. Later as we researched and started to strip the plane we discovered that there was very little missing

May 02, 2019     First inspection - (1 hour)       Category: Instrument Panel
Did a cursory inspection of the instrument panel..this thing is ugly as hell..however we still have both glove box doors and the original handles.
