Apr 04, 2024     Moving day       Category: Wings
Moving to a new house. The moving company lovingly swaddled the wings in a multilayered blanket of protection!

Sep 21, 2021     Structural layups - (2.3 hours) Category: Wings
Did the "V" layup and the end layup, 3 plies each of UNI 3" wide. These help spread the load from the wing attach points across the skin.

Aug 01, 2021     End cap rib - (2.1 hours) Category: Wings
Dug out foam and glassed-in 2x BID at 45 bias on the wing end cap rib.

Jul 02, 2021     Housekeeping - (.5 hour) Category: Wings
Unfortunately work has kept me away from the house and project for several months. Mapped out the jobs to glass the strengthening layups at the wing root and the 2 1/2 wing ribs. No time to do much else... it will be a few months yet.

Dec 21, 2020     Trimmed wing top skin - (1.2 hours) Category: Wings

Nov 28, 2020     Upper Skin - (8.4 hours)       Category: Wings
Skinned the upper wing. A very smooth, light, and straight layup. I was pleased!

Nov 15, 2020     Access panel - (1.3 hours) Category: Wings
Dug out the access hole for the wing attach bolt, then laid up 1 ply BID.

Nov 01, 2020     Positioned Gas strut brackets - (.7 hour) Category: Fuselage
Temp-mounted gas strut brackets with hot glue and test-fit. Needs a bit more grinding, so back to the bench.

Nov 01, 2020     Sanding top surface - (4.3 hours)       Category: Wings
Filled cracks and gouges with X30 foam and sanded very smooth with my 4 ft long custom sanding board. I noticed that the lower surface was warped, so I clamped to an angle aluminum and warmed with an IR lamp to relax it to a die-straight condition.

Oct 25, 2020     Gull wing door - (.8 hour) Category: Fuselage
Popped gas strut mounts out, sanded, and made additional layup on main mount. Next week they will be ready to place on aircaft.
