Aug 15, 2021     Rudder Pedals - (6 hours)       Category: Fuselage
Made rudder pedals per print. Next up is adding toe brakes to both sides. I'm sure instructors would like to have control when required.

Oct 18, 2020     Elevators done! - (14 hours) Category: Tail Feathers
Time mostly spent on the little pieces. Built all of them then it all came together in two days.

Sep 07, 2020     Elevator Trim tab hinges and Horns - (6 hours)       Category: Tail Feathers
Learned to build the hinges and horns first. Next to loft the elevator on the table and jig it in then cut, cope, bend tubing!

Aug 29, 2020     Rudder tacked and ready for finish welding. - (8 hours)       Category: Tail Feathers
I learned a lot on this rudder. The thin sheet metal ribs were easy to blow out. Had to adjust the torch for a long ghetto flame. The hinges on the other hand had quite a bit of heat sink involved so I had to turn it up for them.
So far so good!

Aug 25, 2020     EAA 59 Shear is worth the price of admission!       Category: Tail Feathers
Wife helped me align and I used my backside of thirty to shear some metal for rudder ribs.

Aug 25, 2020     Rudder formers made - (1.0 hour)       Category: Tail Feathers
Took 4130 sheet up to EAA 59 and cut and formed rudder parts using their sheer and brake. My daughter Tori helped me align and setup the materials. Good time!

Aug 23, 2020     Remeasured rudder - (1 hour)       Category: Tail Feathers
Looking at the drawing again, I couldn't measure to the upper hinge fitting. I suppose that is why the designer added the hinge centerlines to the print. All is fine awaiting the materials next week!

Aug 22, 2020     Lofting the rudder - (2 hours)       Category: Tail Feathers
Still waiting on materials but lofted the rudder on the end of the workbench. Ready for some tack welds!

Aug 22, 2020     Table ready for tubing! - (8 hours)       Category: Workshop
Added my two EAA 1000 tables to my woodworking bench and skinned them with 3/4 ply. Painted white with a center line chalk marked along it.
