Jun 03, 2023     wing flaps and alerions. - (10 hours) Category: Workshop

Feb 27, 2023     fusalage painting - (20 hours)       Category: Workshop
fuselage sand blast and paint. I have tail feathers to do and the flap and alerion structure to do when the weather gets warmer.

Jan 04, 2023     wing metal parts - (9.8 hours)       Category: Workshop
The wood parts assembly went well so both wings are done. Now the metal parts for the wings are being fabricated including the metal leading edge. I am not building the mechanism that allows the leading edge to move forward. I will use a fixed leading edge and use vortex spoilers to improve the stall speed. Building the flap and alerion tubes will be a challenge I am looking forward to. Will have to brush up on my welding skills.

Jan 18, 2021     B-cup wings - (10.5 hours)       Category: Workshop
One third of wings are done so far with two thirds to go. Next is all the metal parts. Compression struts, drag & anti-drag cables, wing strut brackets, wing spar connection brackets, aileron & flaps and moving leading edge assembly. Wood parts came out good and I am happy about that. Fun work. Big parts< I have air space that is not used on the wall and they will remain there until the next step, Mike.

Aug 26, 2020     b-cup ribs done       Category: Workshop
After starting I found that you can do 1-1/2 ribs a day. That's mostly waiting for the epoxy to cure to safely remove a rib to start on the next one. I am taking my spars to a friend that has a mill work shop the size them and cut the tapers.

Aug 02, 2020     B-cup ribs       Category: Workshop
Since we are all avoiding going anywhere, no meetings and isolating it is time to get back burner projects up front. Time spent in the shop is welcome. Resumed working on B-cup building ribs. Half done so far.

Jul 15, 2020     new project tail - (3.8 hours) Category: Workshop
I started Buttercup about 8 years ago then moved two times then had lost my hard copy photos and one computer crash and lost the rest of them. This log should solve those problems. I'm not moving again!!
