Mar 01, 2022     Stringers - (6 hours) Category: Fuselage
Yesterday and today the stringers were measured, cut and installed on the fuselage.

Apr 05, 2021     3/15-4/5/21Floor boards and more - (35 hours)       Category: Interior Finish
The barn has been a busy place! The floor boards have all been fitted, cut, deburred, and rivet nuts put into place. Special inspection covers were designed and made. All of the flooring has been installed (temporarily of course) for the final fitting. (And it fits and looks great.) The seats were put in again so we could check them out (and make sure that the back seats would be able to be attached correctly. They are!) The trim tabs were cut and are able to move just like they're supposed to.

Mar 08, 2021     3/5-3/8 back seat and floor boards - (16 hours)       Category: Interior Finish
The back seat is finished after measuring, cutting, filing, drilling, deburring, and riveting the aluminum. The floor boards have been placed in the plane and marked for adjustments.

Mar 02, 2021     2/23-3/2-wheels and cables - (25 hours)       Category: Controls
The wheels are on for now. We have also (for the time being) installed the rudder, elevator and trim cables- with all of the zillion steps it takes to get through that process. (In case you haven't figured it out, Jim is not the one writing this! Since I am helping on this project it has amazed me the number of steps it takes to get one little thing done. Hats off to all of you builders!)

Feb 10, 2021     seats - (15 hours)       Category: Fuselage
The aluminum for the front seats has been measured, cut, drilled, redrilled, deburred, filed and riveted into place.

Jan 21, 2021     this and that - 1/19-1/21 - (16 hours)       Category: Fuselage
It's been a busy time working on a variety of different projects. On the fuselage, the door handles and window latches were figured out and temporarily installed. Jim made a tool at the shop so that we could get the firewall lined up correctly for drilling the holes. The measuring, drilling, fitting and temporary mounting the firewall is done. A friend brought over a couple of options for a wing rotisserie and that got worked on. And, as always, more research is always being done.

Jan 18, 2021     fuselage and wings - (5 hours)       Category: Fuselage
Removed the inspection covers on the wings.
On fuselage pre-fitted the motor mount. Also put on (temporarily, of course) the door and window frames. Drilled hole for latch on the rear cargo door. Came up with a plan to permanently attach the firewall.

Jan 16, 2021     1/6-1/15/2021 - (13 hours)       Category: Fuselage
Put on (prefit) the right elevator, strut, and horizontal stabilizer mounting tube. Also worked on the trim tube shaft for inside the horizontal stabilizer as well as the trim pushrods. Temporarily installed the tail brace wire links and used string to check out the angles. Got two holes drilled in the firewall. Also installed the trim wheel for a preliminary fitting.
Lots of research going on as well.

Jan 16, 2021     1/6-1/15/2021 - (14 hours)       Category: Wings
Drilled hole on fuel tank cover for fuel tank drain. Marked and drilled holes for fuel lines and fuel gauge through wing root to fuel tank. Cut, and welded fairlead brackets.

Dec 29, 2020     12/18-12/29 - (25 hours)       Category: Wings
The right aileron and flap are ready for fabric!!!! The cut outs on the ribs for the aileron cable have gotten their final deburring. The support brackets on the righthand aileron (both sides) have been riveted on. (A new pneumatic rivet gun have made this process easier. Also having a compact bucking bar (and a second set of hands) helped.) The lead was poured into the aileron tubes and the tube was mounted into the right aileron. The support brackets on both sides of the right flap have also been riveted. Again, there was time spent on research.
Supports for the conduit which will hold wires in the wing were made at the shop and are ready for installation.
