Feb 01, 2024     Van's Issues - (1 hour) Category: Research
There is a gap in the build due to Van's announcing their bankruptcy under Chapter 11 and the laser cut parts issues. I halted the build to await word from Van's on their testing and replacement program and I was considering selling my kit and moving on. Both my fuselage kit and quick build wing kit were built during the laser cut parts problem. My fuselage has some laser cut parts in it but none of the unused parts are in the red or yellow category. The quick build wings may have some in them but there is no way of knowing. I have ordered all parts tagged as "red" and "yellow" but I do not plan on installing them at this time. Van's did testing, both in house and 3rd party. The results and subsequent recommendations have convinced me that my build to this date is safe to continue without any destructive teardown and re-build required. Certainly, if I find any parts needing replacement in the future, I will replace them. The build goes on....

Oct 17, 2023     Firewall and Fwd Fuselage Floor - (3.0 hours)       Category: Fuselage
Continued with the floor and firewall sections. You'll notice some parts are primed and some not. Early on, I decided not to prime based on the time required and the need for it. As I'm getting into the fuselage area, I decided to prime parts that will be almost impossible to inspect. Some parts are totally primed and some are just primed along rivet lines. Someone will probably notice a picture or two that contradict this but it is my intention to do this priming.
