Mar 03, 2024     Floor Boards - (10 hours)       Category: Fuselage

Installed aluminum floor boards. Used 032 panels for front cabin and 025 for cargo area. Primed and painted with black paint. Mounted with tinnerman squares and #6x1/2 B-type metal screws. Wrapped silicone tape around tubes to lessen chatter. Had to fabricate new tray for fuel valve. Split floor board where fuel valve mounted to facilitate easy removal.

Installed two static ports behind cargo bay where other builders seem to be placing them. Built angle piece to hold ports, with another aluminum piece placed above to hold snap bushing for tubing. Left and right tubes unite at top and follow left-side formers where they will meet up with ram air tube and AOA tube from left wing. Applied gray primer to all metal parts.

Built 3 antenna trays for top of plane and 1 tray for bottom UAT. Will need additional antenna mount for GPS/Comm on top and transponder on bottom. All antenna trays built with 032 w/ doubler plate (032 or 040). Very sturdy (maybe overbuilt). Will remove to paint and then permanently attach later.

ELT tray built with 040 aluminum with bend along unsupported end. Bolted to fuselage. Will hold ELT and Uavionix echo. Will mount antenna on top to maintain proper spacing with nearby antenna for UAT and Comm.

Installed rear tray for ELT antenna. Positioned near vertical stabilizer for protection. Doubled 032 aluminum. Inside mount was too close to other antenna.

Built small tray for mounting external ELT antenna between two formers. Assuming that metal-to-metal contact with tube structure creates sufficient ground plane. May relocate to inside of fuselage depending on location of UAT antenna and GPS antenna for ADSB. Will attach doubler plate later.

Opened wing skin; checked and torqued all bolts;

Placed one wing in the cradle sling, other wing resting on table waiting for rotisserie.
