Installed the aileron counterweight as per the assembly instructions. Had to grind off a lot of extra lead…seems like too much but they are now balanced. I checked 917X and they appear to be about the same size. BTW…be sure to follow the TWTT instructions with regards to measuring the distance forward and installing the counterweights.

Learned NOT to try to cut the lead with your bandsaw…it just gums up the blade! I used the 4” sanding disc (same one used to trim the windows) to trim down the lead. Face mask and full respirator for safety!

I did not have to bend the tube at all to maintain the proper clearance. Modifying the wingtip was pretty easy. I did not make a bulkhead inside of the wingtip as the wires for lighting is minimal and could not interfere with the aileron..
