Project: I-CAVS     -     Entry

Jul 17, 2022 8 45-5 Cabin Doors and Transparency Step 1-7 Category: Fuselage
Sanded the contact points with 80 grit sandpaper. Masked the door opening to facilitate the detaching of the door afterwards. I also covered the internal of the fuselage to avoid drops of epoxy.
Prepared the parabeam with enough west system epoxy. I used extra slow hardener in order to have more time to adapt everything.
Prepared the epoxy with cab-o-sil for the first door. i had to prepare two rounds as i didn't have enough when applying to the inside half. I also decided to apply a thin layer of clear epoxy before putting the parabeam and the cab-o-sil. I positioned the door with only few clecoes on the basis. A bit difficult to do alone, anyway i succeeded to position the doors. Clecoed the door halves as indicated. Used the weights and straps to keep the doors close to the fuselage. Used clamps. After curing i realized some undulations due to excessive pressure on the clamps. The right door back bottom angle stands proud about 2 mm. we will see if after positioning the hinges it will look better.
After all is cured i removed the doors with some difficulty.
