Jan 18, 2023 4 Heat box and brake components Category: Firewall
Reworked the mounting of the cabin heat box. Due to the insulation blanket I am using I needed to add a few washers on each mounting bolt, between the firewall and air box to prevent deformation and binding operation. I also mounted the cabin heat control cable using the factory suggested outlet location through the firewall. I was concerned about that since my control is mounted at the bottom middle of the panel, but it seems to work fine. I anchored the end of the control cable a bit differently than factory. The plastic/nylon end that is provided does not hold the cable firmly upon extending. This prevents it from applying much closing pressure on the heat valve. I was also concerned with the longevity of that part, just not really robust. A small adel clamp was used to anchor the heat control cable near the heat box, I merely had to drill an extra hole in the standard angle bracket provided, and the clamp is supported by the bracket, nice! Incidentally, that angle bracket calls for SS rivets but since I have the blanket I had to bolt it up.

I also mounted the park brake valve, had to make some bushings to bring it away from the firewall to clear a fuselage tube. Mounted the brake reservoir also.
