Jan 21, 2023 2 Park brake cable installation Category: Firewall
Park brake valve had already been mounted and lines loose fit, so, as part of getting things done on firewall so engine can be mounted to start wiring, the actuation cable for the valve needed to be mounted. Since the panel design deviates from factory placement of the park brake knob, I wanted to be sure this was done before continuing. The only real difficulty that I ran into was that the threaded stem on the control cable had some sort of thread issue and wouldn't accept the backing nut. Easily remedied with a die and, more time. (Imagine that) I did use the supplied cable end stop here, although it is pretty unimpressive to my eyes, it just doesn't look like it will age well. I did have to safety wire the cable also, so that it can provide some “push” on opening the brake valve without the outer cable rising up out of the stop. I riveted from the inside out to make working around my firewall blanket easier.
