Removed top skin for deburring and additional corrosion protection. All calculated drilled holes check for edge distance.


 
Oct 24, 2019     Finish Drilling Top Skin/Cutout For Cables - (16 hours)       Category: Tail Feathers
All holes drilled. Most to #30. A few #40 need to be opened up. Slot for control cable cutout and Standard L added per plans.


 
Oct 11, 2019     Horizontal Stabilizer - Drill and Cleco Top Skin to Front Spar. - (2 hours)       Category: Tail Feathers
Drilled and Cleco top skin to front spar. Pilot holes at this time - size 40 - pitch 40


 
Oct 04, 2019     Skinning the Top horizontal stabilizer. - (16 hours)       Category: Tail Feathers
Mark all spar and rib location on skin. Mark all rivets pitch 40-A4. Level Horizontal Stabilizer making sure no twists. Used three methods to check for twisting - A level at different points, Measurements and a tight string over the surface.
First drill with size 40. Once all rivet location are drilled, open up to size 30.


 
Sep 04, 2019     Horizontal Stabilizer Prepping Rear Attachment Bracket. - (4 hours)       Category: Tail Feathers
Rear Bracket was trimmed to allow space for elevator. A plywood template in shape of an arc was made based on plans - dimensions are given in a triangle. A reciprocating hand saber saw with a fine tooth blade was used to make the cut. 21 holes needed to be drilled based upon the plan. A drill press was used with a number 40 bit then opened up to a number 30 and finally a number 20. Bracket was Deburred and corrosion protected with cortec.
