I purchased this Kitfox Series 7 Super Sport from my friend who, for various reasons, could not continue building. This kit has the factory built wing option, and included lot of extras like nav/strobe lights, and landing lights. A lot of the hard work has already been completed like the filling and sanding of all the tips of the flying surfaces, control installation, and wing rigging. The project did sit in a hangar for about 5 years when I bought it so it was quite dirty and some of parts were starting to get rusty.
Once I brought the project home, I completely dis-assembled everything and cleaned all the parts and re-assembled them. I replaced a lot of hardware and all of the aluminum brackets that were bare metal, I primed and painted. The airframe came from the Kitfox factory powder coated white, and I wanted it to be black. So I painted all of the fuselage tubes that will be visible once the airplane is done and painted. Powder coating makes an excellent primer so all that was required was to scuff up the surface and paint. In order to paint the fuselage, I had to cut out the rudder pedal cables to get them out of the way. Since they were cut out, I decided to buy and install the adjustable rudder pedal kit which required some modification to the steel parts of the pedal assembly.
