Aug 19, 2020     HS Forward Spar - (6 hours)       Category: Empennage
Separate the two HS-00001 spar doublers. Drilled relief holes on both HS-702 FWD spars, trimmed the ends of the flange and bent spar tabs to 6 degrees. Match drilled all holes to number 30 on the spar, spar angles, and spar doublers to #30. Tapered and bent outboard ends of HS-714 and HS-710 to six degrees.

Jul 21, 2020     VS-Skin - (2 hours)       Category: Empennage
Clecoed on the VS-801PP skin to skeleton. Drilled to final size all the holes attaching the VS-801PP. The holes in the VS skin were already drilled to #40 at the factory. This resulted in skin holes between 0.103-0.106in after match drilling. Contacted Vans about acceptability.

Jul 21, 2020     VS-Skeleton - (2 hours)       Category: Empennage
Prepared the ribs VS-704, VS-705, VS-706 and VS-707 ribs. Cleco the ribs to the front and rear spars and final drilled all ribs and spar attach holes to #30.

Jul 18, 2020     VS Rear Spar - (2 hours)       Category: Empennage
Clecoed the VS-808PP spar doubler to the VS-803PP rear spar. Then clecoed on the hinge brackets VS-410PP, VS
-411PP and VS-412PP. Drilled all holes and brackets to #30.

Jul 03, 2020     HS Rear Spar - (2.0 hours)       Category: Empennage
Final drilled all holes in the HS-609pp and HS-603 rear spar channel to #30, including the HS-412pp and HS-413pp hinge brackets. Drilled the HS-708 rib attach holes to #21.

Jul 01, 2020     HS Rear Spar Reinforcement Bars - (3 hours)       Category: Empennage
Used a vixen file to round the edge of HS-609PP to fit and sanded the edges with 400 grit sand paper. Rounded the edges of the bars using the scotch-brite wheel and file. Smoothed the edges and surfaces of the HS-609PPs to a satin finish equivalent to that left by 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper, removing all the milling and file marks. A combination of 2" scotch-brite disk on a hand drill and 400 grit sand paper were used. One bar had deep gouges that required removing material to 0.179in in some areas. The original stock size was 0.1875 in. Vans confirmed this reduction was within tolerances.
