Nov 09, 2023     Issues with setup - (20 hours)       Category: Avionics
Worked on setting up panel with all the correct parameters and noticed the gps was not actually working. Went through all the installation guide, pilot manual and the advanced electronic circuit breaker box. Actually needed to do this due to the fact it has been a while since I wired all the systems together. Didn't find what I was looking for so I called tech support. We analyzed the system with some of the advanced features of the panel and realized that when they did the quick panel build, it was set up for dual panels which I don't have. The gps was running on a fictional panel and basically not connected to the system. They apologized and what was needed next was to remove the electronic circuit breaker box. Had to unplug all the devices to it, flip it over and reset the dip switches for single panel. Succeed in doing so and realized I needed to reorganize some of the wires to make it easier to access when it is all less accessible. Advanced now tags all their panels for single or dual screens.

Feb 26, 2023     Puyallup aviation trade show - (6 hours)       Category: Avionics
Spent Saturday at the show. Learned some good aviation information at several seminars. Purchased my headsets after trying on several brands. Ended up with Lightspeed Delta Zulu headsets. Bought a book from an author from Idaho on aviation history in Idaho. Fantastic motivation to get this plane done and explore.

Jan 10, 2023     Final pin out on fuselage circuits. - (6 hours)       Category: Avionics
Finished wiring the last circuits for the fuselage. Aircraft front plug shell was left off to add some engine wiring to later. Heater and firewall are next.

Jan 08, 2023     Last wire aft of firewall - (10 hours)       Category: Avionics
Wired trim switch, GPS data plug for the ELT, and the pilot and copilot's push to talk on the sticks. Took some research and asking to get a good idea of what I wanted. Some feel that these sticks are part of the airframe that shouldn't be touched so I left them whole with no drill holes for wiring. Would hate to have this item fail at a critical time. Wires should be protected and checked with every regular check. Figured a simple way to mark and fix the.baggage sack around the headset plugs. Will x-cut the sack and Velcro it back in a square to make it simple to remove for later. Three plugs to pin out are left for all the wire runs and I should finally start on the engine install soon.

Jan 06, 2023     AOA test - (2 hours)       Category: Avionics
Ran wires to new location and added very small contacts. Tested all features except sounds. Should be a helpful addition to the panel.

Jan 02, 2023     Wiring - (10 hours)       Category: Avionics
Completed my CPC connectors for the wings. Will be able to easily connect the wings after painting this spring. Finished and checked the circuit that has the USB power for the IPad, the GoPro on the tail mount, and the cooling fan for the iPad. Stand alone AOA indicator is now in place. Had to order some more wire as the lengths that I had are now to short for the location I moved it to. Was originally on top of the glare shield. More visibility in this location.

Dec 03, 2022     Mount and WxWorks - (3 hours)       Category: Avionics
WxWorks antennae placement ideas. Top is better. Magnets on mounts should hold in this area with the help of some 3M double faced tape. Finished mount for WxWorks, GPS antenna, and heater fan regulator. Got my USB regulated power supply from Advanced Flight to power my GoPro cameras. They make these up for the USB on their panels.

Oct 29, 2022     Antenna - (2 hours)       Category: Avionics
Transponder antenna installed with cable routed up front. All antennae are in place now.

Oct 26, 2022     ADSB antennae - (1 hour)       Category: Avionics
Mounted the ADSB antenna with a foil plate. Cable ran up front too.

Oct 25, 2022     Antennae - (3 hours)       Category: Avionics
Installed ELT. Installed comm radio antenna. Ran cables to front of aircraft. Made a reflective plate from aluminum foil tape for the comm radio antenna. Changed the room layout so there is more area in front of the aircraft. Will be starting on the firewall forward install soon.

Sep 19, 2022     Antennae - (1 hour)       Category: Avionics
Got out the antennae to start on the backing plates for them.

Jun 10, 2022     Static vents added - (3 hours)       Category: Avionics
Static vents are now in place. Lines are complete for the AOA and other components for the avionics. Checked on box fit again and all is good. Finishing door with latches next.

May 12, 2022     Aft wiring complete - (2 hours)       Category: Avionics
Finished small projects need on the aft fuselage wiring to complete and get ready for covering. Went with the hanging method in the kitfox manual to support wire bundles to the under seat trays. Tygon tubing in between two zip ties. Almost ready to cover just need to finish the storage box and butt ribs.

May 12, 2022     ADHARS and AOA - (10 hours)       Category: Avionics
Tray complete. Wiring complete. Had to run an extra 5 ft of wire for the display.

May 12, 2022     Trays for aft fuselage wire - (4 hours)       Category: Avionics
Cut and bent sheet aluminum to form two trays to go under the seat area. Glued in place. Trays have metal bars locked with zip ties. Still have to add the coaxial cable to these but should be plenty of room.

May 05, 2022     Autopilot servos - (3 hours)       Category: Avionics
Finalized the servos with the long arms and proofed the range of motion limiting bracket does not hit the arm in full travel.

Apr 13, 2022     ADHARS and AOA - (20 hours)       Category: Avionics
Made a shelf for my ADHARS and stand alone AOA. Aligned it with center as best I could and leveled it to the wings level as there is a remote magnetometer in the wing that has to align with the ADHARS. There is room for adjustment later and Dynon has a electronic way to adjust too. Spent another day wiring both and running the cable. Have to wait on some wire for the AOA as the wires for the readout were short. The static lines need to be added too.

Apr 05, 2022     Antenna - (4 hours)       Category: Avionics
Installed the comm antenna, ELT antenna, ads-b antenna, and transponder antenna

Aug 24, 2020     Week spent on research on how to wire and type of panel. - (10 hours) Category: Avionics
Decided on an Advance Flight Systems Panel. Should get the pre- install delivery the first week of September. Will decide on the design with them over the next several weeks. Should have the complete avionics package in about 12 weeks. Ordered up some wire for the landing lights and navigation lights along with the tools and other parts needed to install in the wings
