Jul 01, 2023     Avionics Installation Complete - (25 hours) Category: Avionics
Completed fabrication of wiring harnesses for avionics components in airframe, lights, firewall forward electrical system and EMS, per instructions with Advanced Flight Systems installation manual. Installed all avionics components. Fabricated avionics trays. Installed panel.

Jun 21, 2023     Alt sense 2 amp in line fuse - (1 hour) Category: Avionics
Added in line blade fuse 2 amp with LED indicator to the Alt. Sense wire. This wire goes direct from the controller to the main power bus positive terminal for better reading of voltage with no voltage drop from the switches and ACM.

Ignition keys. 122

Jun 11, 2023     Firewall forward electrical - (8 hours)       Category: Avionics
Today I wired the alternator controller, established and drill locations for the controller, ammeter shunt, and a 60 amp fuse block for the alternator B lead. I also wired the ignition switch per the wiring diagram included with my instrument panel and ACM wiring. Today I also worked on the inspection panels and fuselage tail fairings. The EMS wiring was started too. I installed 30 ohm resistors at the p lead terminals, on 20 AWG short pigtails the were connected with solder sleeves to the appropriate EMS wires.

Jun 05, 2023     Wiring harness - (10 hours)       Category: Avionics
Wiring harness fabricated and run to panel, lights, comm, gps and grounds. Bruins bus bar installed. Holes cut in firewall and pas through tube installed. Will wrap with fireproof sleeve.

May 24, 2023     Adsb and audio panel mixer - (2 hours) Category: Avionics
Mounted Adsb and audio panel mixer on the underside of the glare shield to avoid the weight of building another tray just for these small components. This puts them in a good location for wiring as well as access.

May 20, 2023     Remote components - (15 hours)       Category: Avionics
Over the course of this weekend I spent many hours making a remote component bracket for my Dynon Components. The Transponder, Comm, back up battery, and EMS modules are all now mounted to this panel under the glare shield with good access. I ran wiring for these components and also built the wiring harnesses and connectors for the “aircraft rear” plug-in to the Advanced ACM. This included wingtip lights and ELT gps input. The remaining ELT wires go to their own remote switch and grounds.
Control sticks are wired now for PTT switches and final installed. I also installed the ADAHRS under the pilot seat and hooked up the pitot/static system to this. A SV network cable was plugged in and then I assembled the female DSUB connector to the ACM end.

Mar 05, 2023     Panel and wiring design - (12 hours) Category: Avionics
Designed instrument panel after determining avionics need and location of specific hardware in fuselage. Measure all wire runs for wiring harness. Determined locations for push/pull knobs. Determined location for instruments, primary flight display. Decided on running a simple VFR glass panel with Dynon Skyview and an Advanced Flight Systems PFD.
Wiring harness purchased from Advanced flight systems.
After I fabricated the instrument panel blank, this was sent to Advanced Flight systems for mounting the hardware and painting and returned to me for installation.

Apr 30, 2022     ELT installed/wired - (8 hours)       Category: Avionics
Fabricated mount plate/ground plane for the ELT and antenna to mount in aircraft tail. Built wiring harness and ran wiring in aircraft belly up to panel.
Installed antenna cable and buzzer.
Installed ARTEX 345 ELT per included instructions

Apr 01, 2022     Pitot and AOA - (2 hours)       Category: Avionics
Ran pitot and AOA lines. Nylon as supplied with Dynon ADAHRS kit. ADAHRS will be installed at fuselage level flight plane under pilot seat.

Aug 07, 2021     Static system - (3 hours)       Category: Avionics
Today I ran the nylon tubing for my static system and determined preliminary location for the tubes, static ports and the receiver. I'll place the ADAHRS on the floorboard under the pikot seat to be ok axis with legal flight and shim as needed. The static ports were drilled snd countersunk for riveting to their brackets, which were also made today. All ready for final instal. Using rubber hose and grip lock ties for standoffs
