Jun 27, 2021     Aircraft Data Plate - (1 hour)       Category: Miscellaneous
I had saved a nice data plate that I had received from the Alaska Airmen's Association. But I found out for an amateur-built aircraft the builder's name has to be on it. I debated a number of ideas and got many wild (read expensive) estimates from commercial vendors for custom plates. I then turned my attention to a local vendor that does laser engraving. I emailed them my idea and within an hour they came up with a beautiful drawing! They made me two 2in by 3in plates. One out of outdoor sign aluminum (the black one) and one out of .020 stainless that I provided. $8 dollars and a day later I had two very nice plates. It pays to shop local!

Jul 11, 2015     Moving the Jig Table - (2.00 hours)       Category: Miscellaneous
I needed to get the jig table back to where it was so I can get space back in my shop. I took apart the wing stand I borrowed from Rob Taylor and thought if there was some way I could use the trailer tongue jacks to move the jig table. Weight isn't an issue for them. Since the tables are two separate units joined in the middle, I just bolted them to the center post of each one and jacked them up. It worked perfect! It rolls almost effortlessly and works much better that the crap I went through to move it in the first place.

Nov 18, 2011     Adding up the bills - (2.00 hours) Category: Miscellaneous
I took some time to catch up on my paperwork and add all the receipts to my expense log. After I was done...whoa! I have a LOT invested in this thing!
