Jan 19, 2023     1st Solo in a RV14A       Category: Flying RV14A
A neighbor life long friend called and asked where I was. I reply KOPL airport, he replied he would be right there so I could fly his Airplane. He landed there in a few mins and said take it up solo. I could feel it taxing to have much more power than my RV9A, also a more "solid" airplane. Takeoff took lots of right rudder, and it climbed out like riding an elevator. Flew it up to 3000' turns, steep turns, slow flight, slow flight turns. It is so easy to control the speed with the CS prop. Landing was just like landing the RV9A. It is smooth and fast all the way

Mar 01, 2022     Interior Lighting       Category: Lighting
I will use LED eyebrow mounted Red/White light and foot well lighting in white with adjustable dimmers. Photos of my RV9A love this design very functional very intuitive.

Mar 01, 2022     FlyLED       Category: Lighting
All LED in and Out. I will use FlyLED as I used on my RV9A. They were fun to build, bright and very intuitive one feature I do laugh is there a side lights for taxi in that light up the edge of the taxiway this is fantastic. I will use the star 7 design in each wing and the nav strobe in the wingtips and tail.

Mar 01, 2022     Garmin G3x PFD and MFD w/375 IFR nav back up G5       Category: Avionics
Garmin G3x PFD and MFD w/375 IFR nav back up G5. The Garmin package rocks my RV9A. I like they integration in the way everyone talks to each other very nicely.

Mar 01, 2022     Selected SteinAir for Instrument Panel       Category: Instrument Panel
I will do something very similar to my RV9A, I love the panel design and layout. Love having Foreflight on the iPad all the way to the left. Front and center is the Garmin G3x PFD. This time I am go with for the MFD a larger screen. Will still use the Garmin 375 for my IFR nav. Love this combo, I fly my RV9A IFR and the workflow is so simple and very well laid out.

Mar 01, 2022     Interior Selection       Category: Interior Finish
Very pleased with my Classic Aero interior in my RV9A, I will use this firm once again for my RV14A. I will stick to light colors for a cool option combined with Ultra Leather as many times we step on the seat entering and exiting the aircraft. (Photos of my RV9A Interior) I will do something very similar.

Mar 01, 2022     Color Choices Category: Paint / Decals
Considering a silver or possibly a tri-coat white as a base or possibly two-tone with dark blue and bright orange stripes this is inspired by the company I was chief pilot for in the 70s and 80s we bought four new airplanes. Company colors are blue and orange and I design the paint scheme for all of them including our Learjet. I like the Blue Orange combo as they are opposites on the color wheel and produce a very dramatic affect together.
