Ryan worked on installing and replacing a battery on the ELT light on the dash.
Quinn and Addison worked on tensioning the front nose gear.

Matt and Ryan sanded and trimmed the wings so they could be sealed.

We all sanded extra fiber glass off the plane.
Stihl, Ryan, and Logan washed off some of the excess tape with alcohol.

We added strips of fiberglass so that there is a smoother transition on the sides, and added microbeads to fill out low spots on the middle.

Today Ryan masked up the canopy and the interior of the plane so there would be no mess with the fiber glass.
Addison and Zach made a spacer for the fiber glass on the top of the instrument bay.
Jacob trimmed up the cowling, so it fit better.
Quinn remade spacers out of foam for the gas struts on the canopy.

Truman assembled the oil tank vent line. Matthew, Ryan and Stihl, planned a flight from HXF to ETB to MWC and flew it on the simulator.

Ryan, Matt, and Stihl safety wired, and taped the end of the rear canopy to make sure everything was in line.
Ethan finished getting the throttle cable finished, then checked the flap motor, was no issues. Then, he started trimming the bottom cowling to fit on.

Ian, Ryan, and Aaron worked on the nacelle on the lower engine Couling. The Nacelle protects stuff from getting in the intake.

Quinn, Hayden, and Zach worked on the fuel tank. They started torquing down bolts that didn't have toque seal. They found that the right landing gear leg was not torqued in the spacer plate.

Wing removed. OAT, fuel shutoff cable, AOA and Pitot tubes routed to empennage. Coy and Ryan worked on finishing spinner gap fillers. Replaced thin pieces with .032" per instructions. Ethan and Addison mounted radio bracket and moved avionics bundle into cockpit for placement.

Eon worked on attaching the outside heat prob to the bottom of the plane. Coy worked on the spinner today, and he had to remake the spiner gap attachment plates. Ethan worked on the torque arms for the flaperons. Quinn and zach worked on the cowlings and used a belt sander for most of the long edges. Zach also worked on the cub to try and get the comms working.

Ethan installed part of the torque tubes and removed a portion of them. he then prepped them for next time.
Joey and Ian deburred more parts for the access covers.
Stihl also deburred for a majority of the time and helped to find parts.
Addison installed the ADAHRS and pitot static system.
Quinn, trimmed the spinner and refabricated the plate placement parts.

Aaron, Zach, Nate, and Troy worked with Robert and Wayne to install the eco stop assembly. They also installed the clamps for the main brake lines. Ian placed the spinner onto the plane and match drilled. Lastly, Joey and Ryan worked on fluting, riveting, and drilling for parts on the canopy.
Today's build session was very productive and everyone worked hard!

Ethan and Ryan worked on the engine hose clamps to secure the ECU lanes to the engine mount

Zack and Quinn worked on the gas struts for the canopy. He drilled them to a larger diameter with a drill press.

Ryan routed the angle of attack lines through the fuselage and mounted the brackets for the wing spar pin mounts.

Quinn and Aaron worked on the aluminum brake lines. Quinn then hopped into the Rv-12 and started installing the rudder and brake pedals with Tyler and Aaron. Richard Supervised Aaron and Quinn working on the brake lines.
Zach worked on installing the battery into the ELT into the j3. He then biked to Cub Air and grabbed the checklist and then copied it.
Ryan installed the ELT into the Rv-12. He also did the wiring for the engine/computer.
Troy added stickers to the flight controls. He then installed the antenna for the ELT and transponder.
Ethan put the protective baffle piece on the engine.

Coy and Ryan finished the rough trimming of the cowling pieces. They then mounted the engine on the temporary stand and attached the engine mount. Quinn and Zach worked on the landing gear. unfortunately the brake fittings were not yet mounted so the axles will have to be removed to attach them. Stihl and Logan worked on connecting the bottom and top brackets onto the fuselage for the landing gear, also known as the landing gear mounts. Nate worked on starting the nose carbon fiber, and cutting/trimming some of the slabs off for a rough cut.

Today Quinn and troy finished the assembly of the empennage. Nate and Zach put the flaperons on to the wings. Joey and Jacob put fuel pipes in. Brady put a piece of the firewall into the fuselage. Troy Quinn and Larry tried tapping a control horn, but the control horn was slipping in the vice.

Quinn and Troy sanded, filed, and cut the tailcone fairings and installed nutplates on the piece.
Zach and John worked on the wingtip fairings/navigation lights, they corrected steps that were not complete. The difficulty was the large gap between working on the piece.

Addison worked on the avionics bay floor panel. The trim tab horns were filed and drilled with a 1/4" step drill to correct the misaligned holes. The trim motor arm will attach to the horns with a rod end bearing and the slightly canted bolt will be OK per Van's tech support.

Jacob glued washers on the stabilator flanges and we attached and torqued the stabilator to the tailcone. Zack prepared the trim tab hinge pins and mounted the trim tabs. Some misalignment was noted on the R tab, where it was constructed slightly wrong. It should be fixable with removal of the inboard rib and reassembly. Joey and Logan worked on the fuselage roll over bar. Match drilled the mounting pieces. Quinn worked on the position light fiberglass mounts.

Richard and Brady did some riveting on the fuselage.
Addison and Cali did some deburring.

Today was a very productive build session and we accomplished a lot.

Zach and Quinn riveted on aft skins to the stabilator.

Richard and Christina deburred pieces for the bulkhead.
Joey, Stihl, Jaylin, and Zach were riveting on the aft hinge of the stabilator and beginning riveting the aft ribs.
Brady and Truman riveted on the fuel tank spacers and the ribs for the fuselage.
Addison, Brady, and Mentors spent time today deburring the skins to the tail cone. We learned different methods for breaking an edge.

Zach, Quinn, and Stihl worked on attaching the trailing edge ribs to the stabilator.
Cali, Addison, Logan, and Joey deburred the parts of the fuselage.
Harsh and Adam worked on the bulkhead.
All of the members and mentors had a very productive build session and accomplished a lot.

Zach and Quinn worked on riveting the stabilator and putting on the skin for the skeleton of the wings. Logan, Harsh, Addison, And Cali worked on demurring and invitatory. Brady, Scott, and Wayne worked on the bulkhead.
 
Oct 11, 2022     Continued work on the rudder, stabilator, and fuselage - (2 hours)       Category: Workshop
Cali completed the construction of the rudder and added the trim tab to it.
Brady did some riveting onto the fuselage bulkhead.
Joey and Shane fluted the ribs on the stabilator. They also added some rivets.

Zach, Quinn, and Stihl worked on attaching the ribs to the stabilator.
Brady went to multiple stations and helped out.
Joey, Cali, Addison, and Izzy riveted the skin of the rudder.
Harsh and some of the mentors worked on the assembly of the main bulkhead of the fuselage.
Tonight has been a very productive build session. We are about 3-5% done with the airplane.

Richard debured parts of the tailbone. Logan and Shane worked on riveting the counter balance brackets for the stabilator board. Brady worked on fuselage bulkhead. Addison worked on riveting the rudder horn to the spar and the ribs to the spar.

Joey worked on drilling out rivets from a previous worker on the rudder. Addison and Cali worked on riveting the rudder horn and finished.
Jaylin and Christina worked on riveting the hinge bracket assembly to the stabilator.
Harsh, Stihl, and Truman worked on dimpling holes into brackets for the fuselage.
 
Oct 02, 2022     Log for 10/2/22 - (3 hours)       Category: Workshop
Joey and Addison worked on rudder, riveting the spar caps and hinge brackets. Addison attempted to rivet on the rudder horn but had to drill a rivet out.
Logan and Zach worked on the stabilator and started to rivet the counter weight.
Brady and Stihl worked not the bulkhead for the fuselage. They drilled some holes and deburred.
Truman worked on his practice kit.


 
Sep 26, 2022     Work Day 9-26-2022 - (2 hours)       Category: Workshop
Garrett and Logan matched drilled holes in the bulkhead and marked the skin that overlaps the bulkhead with appropriate markings, so that holes are not misdrilled. Harsh and Stihl used the wrong type of rivet on the rudder and spent time drilling out rivets. Addison match drilled some pieces on the stabilator. A'Brien and Joey worked on A'Brien's practice kit and emphasized the need to pay attention to the directions and what you are doing after a few mistakes. Bob and Dave worked on making improvements to tool organization.

Quinn and Zach did a lot of deburing with the with the rear stabilator spars. Harsh, Adam, and Joey worked on the rudder spars. Scott worked on organizing some of the skins. Brady, worked on the bucket assembly. Truman and Logan worked on finishing Trumans practice kit.


 
Sep 19, 2022     Continued Tailcone Work - (2 hours)       Category: Workshop
New team member Truman took his Young Eagle Flight today and began work on his practice kit with Logan. Brady, Adam, and Izzy started riveting the skin onto the vertical stabilizer. Jaylin and Christina began squeeze riveting on the horizontal stabilator. Joey and Stihl worked on the trim tab and some of the mentors continued to improve our new work stations/supply carts.


 
Sep 18, 2022     Several Groups Worked - (10 hours)       Category: Workshop
Trim Tab (Richard): Richard and Still worked on the trim tab, they finished 1, and are currently working on the 2nd. They had some kinks to work out with squeeze technique.
Vertical Stabilizer (Garett, Harsh, Brady): Worked on dimpling and attaching the nut plates to the main skin of the vertical stabilizer and the leading edge. Harsh also put in a hinge on the vertical spar.
Stabilator (Quinn, Zach, Addison): Worked on the hinge brackets and started assembling the main spar.
