Dj's holes for the main sumps were oblong and did not line up with my newer tanks, opted to drill the hole to a larger size and use a plug and backup doubler to “move the hole”

Drilled the sump holes for the outboard left tank

After discussing with Ted, I don't like the option of just over driving the rivets. I am working a method to open the dimples to 1/8 so I can redimple with 1/8” rivets on the ribs

Working with Larry we completed riveting left wing less the trailing edge. Note I am very concerned about the rib rivets not having sufficient head, will discuss with ted


 
Jul 08, 2022     Rivet Right Bottom Center Skin (cont) - (6 hours) Category: Wings
Working with Larry and then Ryan. Larry and I riveted the aft spar and edge ribs. Started doing the stiffeners but the rivets kept folding over. After Larry left I fabricated a tool for riveting the stiffeners which worked extremely well. Ryan and I finished up the stiffeners on the right wing and the ribs as well as the trailing edge.

Worked with Ryan, disassembled the strut beam as much as possible, completed riveting the top row of rivets and rivets behind the strut beam

Larry gave a visual inspection and Ryan and I practiced a bit the we riveted about 1/2 of the top row of 5/32 rivets

What a PITA, for some reason really hard to buck rivets with the gooseneck and 10 degree sets, ended up removing several rivets and installing from bottom of spar
