Jun 18, 2023     Grommeting the fuel lines - (3 hours)       Category: Fuel System
Haven't been able to work on the plane for quite a few days because of work. I was able to order parts but that was about it. Got out there today and fitted the grommets on the flexible fuel lines and then routed them on the front side of the spar carry-through. Putting the grommets on and getting them in place in the fittings took one heck of a lot more time than I bargained for. But they are in place. Put the fuel valve in place and connected the fuel lines.
Also dimpled the holes on the bottom of the fuselage getting them ready to fill them with a flush rivet. One is on each side of the floor just in front of the spar carry-through. That is going to be a two person job.

Jun 08, 2023     Fuel Vent Lines - (3 hours)       Category: Fuel System
Routing the fuel vent lines from the front by the firewall to where they exit to vent the fuel tanks. This was fairly bendable aluminum tubing and easy to connect to the fuselage sides. I will have to go back and flare both ends when I get a flare tool.

May 18, 2023     Fuel Pump, Fuel Valve and Hoses - (4 hours)       Category: Fuel System
Fabricated the F-983A Fuel Valve Plate. Fitted the Andair fuel valve to the plate (instead of using the template this time) and drilled the appropriate holes. Had to attach nut plates to the fuel valve.
Opened the fuel line holes in the fuselage to 1". Opened the fuel vent line holes in the fuselage to 7/16". Attached the F-796A- L/R Fuel Tank Attach Brackets to both sides of the fuselage.
With the fuel valve in position, I connected the Airflow Performance fuel pump and the fuel filter to the modified F-782C. Made all of the connections but have not tightened them yet. Need to get a AN815 union to connect the fuel pump to the line going forward to the firewall.

May 05, 2023     Center Cabin Cover - (4 hours)       Category: Fuel System
Began working on the forward fuselage center section that covers the fuel lines and wiring conduits. Since I have a fuel injected engine, I have the Airflow Performance fuel pump and fuel filter. It uses the same fuel valve but the rest is changed. Had to cut the F-782 Center Cabin Cover to accommodate the fuel pump and filter. Drilled holes in the floor stiffener to hold down the cover. Also had to drill two screw holes in the Firewall Recess and attach nut plates.
