Nov 17, 2023     Painting, November 17, 2023 - (1.7 hours)       Category: Paint / Decals
An odd winter storm hit last night. My paint booth bent and folded over. I had to bail at least one hundred gallons of water off the canvas and folds. The left wing was crushed, the right wing had three broken ribs. The fuselage has a broken longeron on the lower right side. I am so heartbroken, that I have to wait until tomorrow to do a full inspection of the damage.

Continued the application of Poly Brush. I painted the fuselage, horizontal stabilizer, and elevator. You can see how dark they have gotten with a single cross coat and a straight coat.

Nov 10, 2023     Painting, November 10, 2023 - (6.2 hours)       Category: Paint / Decals
Continued the application of Poly Brush to wings, vertical stabilizer and rudder. Also applied hinges to horizontal stabilizer and elevator. I sprayed primer on the fairings.

Purchased more Poly Brush and RR8500 Reducer from Aircraft Spruce.

Nov 08, 2023     Painting, November 08, 2023 - (4.5 hours)       Category: Paint / Decals
I am using Poly Fiber Products. I began using Poly Fiber Brush spraying one cross coat and the a straight coat. It is recommended to do two cross coats, but it is getting thick and this is and ultralight, so I decided to cut back on the application. Then you consider that there will be Poly Spray (two cross coats recommended), then the paint (Poly Tone), two cross coats recommended, I don't want to make the paint so heavy that I can't stay within the weight criteria.

Mar 23, 2023     Parts Purchase, March 23, 2023 - (.2 hour) Category: Paint / Decals
Purchased varnish, paint solvent, and drain grommets from Aircraft Spruce. I have decided to us Polytech products. My predecessor liked Randolph products. They are sold by the same company but use slightly different techniques.
