Aug 27, 2023     Exhaust Pipe - (2 hours)       Category: Engine
Needed to fabricate exhaust pipe connection between header collector and mounted muffler. Ordered 2in elbow, 2 inch straight pipe, 2 to 2.5 adapter, band clamp, and sleeve clamp. Had a local guy weld up the 304 stainless pipe.

Jun 25, 2023     Propeller Spacer Install - (.5 hour)       Category: Engine
Purchased 10.9 grade 8mm x 1.25 40mm long bolts for spacer to psru installation. Purchased Nordlock washers (25 sets). Torqued down the bolts per in reference to bolt grade.

Jun 17, 2023     EGT and O2 Sensor Routing - (3 hours)       Category: Engine
Drilled holes through electrical tray, routed wires through tray. Mounted O2 Module, tightened thermal couple's to headers, drilled large hole through firewall, fabricated firewall bundle seal. Wired thermal couple's to connectors and installed.

Machined a hanger block from HDPE, tapped end of block for 1/4-20 bolt, cross drilled to mount to fuselage at unuesed landing gear bracket. Purchased rubber isolater, and used left over light mounting bracket at the cabane.

What a work of art. I decided my fabrication and modification of a Suzuki Sammurai header from Amazon just would not be the most durable and performance way to go. So from a $200 product to a $1800 product seems crazy to me but the right decision for the long run.

Received needed AN8 fitting having 90 degree bend. Constructed oil line, included fire sleeve and installed.
 
Feb 26, 2023     Coolant System/Expansion Tank - (10 hours)       Category: Engine
Fittings, silicone coolant lines, clamps, expansion tank. Had a welder weld one aluminum fitting. Mounted tank to firewall, used rivnuts. Lots of time planning routing and etcetera.

Dec 04, 2022     Throttle Control - (5 hours)       Category: Engine
Used some aluminum scrap bar material, and some solid round stock. Purchased some extension springs. Engine throttle cable is pulled to open throttle, pilots push throttle forward to open. The mechanism has a 2 to 4 ratio. Took some effort and a few iterations to make it all work. Will still revise wire rope cable on airplane throttle to music wire.

Routed engine harness through firewall and made connections on engine. Cut, rotated, welded coolant tubes at head to route to low side. Painted orange. Fabricated electronics rack from .040 5053 AL. ECM and many other electronics will attach here.

Oct 19, 2022     Firewall and Engine Install - (6 hours)       Category: Engine
Cut boot cowl shape on firewall stainless steel sheet, located onto fuselage and drilled mounting holes. Riveted in place with CCP42 rivets. I did apply anticipating tape to tubing prior to firewall installation to minimize metal to metal rattle/buzz. Hoisted engine in place and mounted.

Removed oil/engine coolant heat exchanger. Machined from 6061 3 in round bar a housing for thermostat bypass. Purchased oil thermostat bypass, machined spacer. Installed onto engine. Ordered 8AN x 22mm fittings. Used bench top lathe/mill to make the parts.

Cut 4 inch PVC pipe to length, shortened flange on end cap, located and drilled holes for throttle body tubes, made supporting brackets, painted end cap, applied carbon vinyl wrap to tube. Installed filter.
