After fabricating the supply fuel line from firewall to engine, it was time to make the return line. Purchased fuel rail adapter fitting and then cut hose to length, installed fittings, blew out line with air hose and installed.

Routed fuel line along fuselage welded members to wing root ribs. Cut fuel line where shutoff were to be located. Installed and secured with worm clamps.

Applied thread sealer to header tank fittings and installed. Located tank in fuselage and mounted in place with Adel clamps. Began fuel line routing.

Scuffed surfaces with Scotchbrite. Solvent cleaned surfaces. Warmed up the part and paint and spray area. Applied paint to 5 of the 6 surfaces, dried. Painted remaining surface. Applied Wild West Aircraft decal to Header tank.

$750 + shipping. Seems exorbitant, but I practiced TIG welding and fabricating my own. The effort was taking too long and the results would not be satisfactory. Received tank, located and marked mounting points for Adel clamps. Drilled, demurred, mounted.

Temporary installed root rib, clamped supports between ribs 1& 2 to support tank. Clamped tank mounting brackets in place, marked positions, removed tank. Drilled 4 brackets, match drilled front and rear spar. Riveted brackets. Applied epoxy at bracket joints. Match drilled tank to bracket mounting. Installed nutplates.

Folded sheetmetal flat patterns to make a header tank. Had no sheetmetal brake. After forming, radiused edges, and did final fitting.

Used prototype mockup to layout flat patterns on 3003-H14 .063" sheet aluminum. Cut out flat patterns.

Made a mockup header tank with foam board. Measured, made first pattern from cardboard, fitted, made adjustments to make final pattern. Will now transfer to .063 aluminum sheet. Foam board assembled with hot glue gun.
