Start on new rudder return cable installation. Just need to rivet plates to floor and adjust tensions.

Dec 16, 2022 Intake - door handle mods - (6 hours)

Category: Engine

Prep new door handles for install. Cut center shaft and spacers and fit to handles. Pin inside handle to shaft. Make templates and then aluminum pieces (4) for the TBI cooling shroud. Mount on engine and connect heater scat hose as a test. All looks good. Mount new compressor outlet temp sending unit into intake plenum. Re-seal fuel shutoff outlet fitting that was weeping fuel. Test and it seems sealed now.

Make micarta intake plenum extensions. 1.875" tall to improve flow into Rotec TBI. No noticeable difference.

Add aft fuel tank support from Rans to Right side tank. Left side not installed due to OAT probe in the way. Might re-locate in spring time.

Nov 23, 2022 First flight. - (.5 hour) Category: Test run

Fly plane to KCWA and put in hanger. First flight. Some radio issues to sort through, but overall uneventful.

Nov 16, 2022 Door latches - (2 hours)

Category: Interior Finish

Dremel door latch stops so latch goes overcenter further. Add bungies to secure latches for test flights.

Test run engine, 62% for 5 minutes continuous. Taxi tests. Multiple passes with tail raised, verifying directional control. Door latches not secure. Both unlatched during taxiing.

A/W inspection from JN. All good and passed. Put plane back together, inspection panels, seats, etc.

Add more heat shield on inside of cowl.

Oct 30, 2022 fire ext - (2.5 hours) Category: Interior Finish

Install fire extinguisher under engine controls.Ground run doing mag checks and 65% power LOP test. Emags fine, no go on LOP. Cowling gets warm/hot near turbo and exhaust. Order heat shield from Summit Racing.

Oct 26, 2022 Roll AP cable clamps, + - (2 hours)

Install and torque new AP Roll cable clamps. Re-fit top cowling with new foam spacer blocks in place. Baffle seals much better now.

Oct 25, 2022 AP servo cable clamps - (3 hours)

Category: Controls

Machine new AP roll servo cable clamps out of steel, to replace the UHMW ones. A nice mill project.
Add foam blocks to upper cowl to block off large air gap on either side of flywheel near the top. 3 layers of glass to hold in place.

Test fit cowling using finish fasteners. OK. Piano hinge keepers on. Start on baffling. Install outer prop spinner bulkhead, (Vans 13" Sensenich style). Torque and safety wire prop bolts.

Jun 22, 2022 Right wingtip re-work - (4.5 hours)

Remove right wingtip. Try adding shims to give clearance to aileron. No go. Remove again, cut plastic support rib, re-position and bond in place. Trim inboard trailing edge of wingtip for clearance. Install. 3/16" clearance now. Put trim tape on wings, wingtips and dark grey-blue line. More mud on cowling plug.

Install ailerons and flaps. Rig and adjust for neutral. Fit and silicone both landing light lenses. Install rear side windows, both.

Tidy up wiring in fuse going to wings. Make pitot and AOA connections between fuse and left wing. Fit wingtip light lenses on. Aim landing-taxi lights. Bolt wingtips on and test lights. Upper strut fairing rivnuts in and fairings installed. Finish aligning and mounting of H-stab. Finish mount of elevator. Calibrate elevator trim indicator on the GRT EFIS.

Mount H-stab back onto fuse. Needs final alignment. Moved plane from shop to hanger and moved all the associated parts also.

Install, wire, plumb, and program new GRT map sensor to be used as a boost pressure sensor.

Anchor mixture cable. Make anchor bracket. Tbi controls done. Remove turbo boost and afr gages from center stack. Remote mount afr gage, re-mount scavenge pump light and auto-on switch. Order grt map sensor for turbo boost sensing. Also order longer throttle cable from Vans.

Fabricate throttle-tbi mount bracket. Make tbi primer anchor and lever. Make 1/4” thick micarta spacer to be used between sump and tbi.
