Building and flying my RV12ULS (N12BB) has been one of the greatest experiences of my 'flying' career. Completed in 2016, my RV12 has given me 375 hours of flying enjoyment. It's truly a wonderful airplane. However, the urge to build again has been getting stronger, and I've decided to start another project. After much consideration, I settled on the RV12iS. Why another RV12? Well, its a fantastic kit, builds (relatively) quickly, is light sport compliant and flies very well.

What will be different this time around... My previous build was from a Synergy Air quick built kit, with the empennage and wing construcktion largely completed for me. The upcoming RV12iS project will be fully assembled by me including for the first time the empennage and wings. The fuselage is different than that of the RV12ULS and the firewall forward has been redesigned for the Rotax 912iS engine. While the Dynon system in my RV12ULS has been great, I want to learn something new, so will be installing Garmin avionics. All in all, very much a new project for me.

The timeline for assembly is agressive, but living in Wisconsin, I hope to have the project completed before winter 20/21. Construction will take place in the rear of my hanger (see images), behind N12BB. Once completed, I'll be selling N12BB and moving the new plane into the front of my hanger.
