Dec 09, 2022     Rigging Rudder Return - (3 hours) Category: Controls
Riveted Rudder Return assembly in place. Used the new yoke attachment to firewall, and added a jam nut and washer for security. Tensioned system and began layout of cover assembly.

Dec 08, 2022     Rudder Return Install - (2.0 hours)       Category: Controls
Primed parts for rudder return system, using Zinc Chromate spray. Baked parts in toaster oven at 200F for one hour to harden paint.

Instructions assume a new build, retrofitting requires a different sequence in order to fit the parts into place. Pulley bolt is too long, need to reverse it to prevent interference with the forward floor. The forward two rivets are tight access and difficult to set. Positioning the assembly a bit more aft would help.

Mar 11, 2021     Redrilling flap release tube - (1.5 hours) Category: Controls
R&R of flap release tube. Redrilled for through bolt at 90 degrees from bad factory drilled holes. New holes allow through bolt to fit at 90 degrees to arm.

Mar 10, 2021     Flap Mechanism assembly - (6.0 hours)       Category: Controls
Dave W. 3.0 hrs. Assembled flap Johnson bar assembly. Dealing with a misdrilled flap trip release tube p/n KPFL0045. Trying to rescue the part by elongating one of the bolt holes. May need replacing.

Converted two bolts to drilled stems because they are in rotation and can work loose.

Mar 09, 2021     Running Aileron Cables - (5.5 hours)       Category: Controls
Dave W. 2.5hrs. Ran interior aileron cables and replaced rudder pedal brake actuator bolts with longer ones. Carefully stacked up washers to prevent side loading on master cylinders. Prepping flap actuator parts.

Mar 05, 2021     Rigging pulleys - (3.0 hours) Category: Controls
Rigging pulley on interior. Quite concerned how some of the free hanging pulley assemblies us non-drilled AN3A bolts and are subject to rotation during operation due to cable loads. There are some online discussions about this and these assembly details are not covered in the plans.

Feb 22, 2021     Brake system install - (3.0 hours)       Category: Controls
Completed brake system install, including gear legs. Cotter pinned brake cylinder bottom pivots but top pivots need longer bolts. Torqued all AN fittings.
