Museum wax was the magic for getting this done. I glued the washer to the nylok then used the sticky wax to grab the back of the lexan.


 
Jul 27, 2021     Windscreen Crack Repair Complete - (2 hours)       Category: Windscreen
Lee Teicheira and Bill Lawrence removed the windscreen from its place on the fuselage, removed all the tape and protective film and inspected the crack repair on the windscreen. The repaired surface area looks solid. Appears to be successful.

Lee Teicheira and Bill Lawrence, after discovering a crack at the screw hole in the left hand lower front corner of the windscreen, drilled a stop hole at the tip of the crack to prevent additional cracking, roughed up the surface on both sides of the windscreen at the site of the crack, mixed up epoxy, cut two strips of fiberglass cloth, laid up the fiberglass and epoxy on both sides of the windscreen, covered both sides with plastic film, taped the plastic in place and put the windscreen in place on the fuselage so that it could set up in its proper position. Will check on the next work day to assess result.

Lee Teicheira, Harvard Holmes, Pete Mitchell, Frank Kelly and Bill Lawrence drilled holes in plexiglass windscreen and countersunk for screws and tinnerman washers. Drilled holes in firewall top flange and riveted nut plates for windscreen screws. Task of securing windscreen partially completed.
