Still not happy with the looks of the bootcowl. First and second versions simply had too many pieces, too many screws and nut plates. Accordingly, I've gone back to the pasteboard stage, and will try to fabricate a single piece for the top and sides, with a removable section in the center to accommodate the cabane struts.
