May 03, 2022     Side panels - (8 hours)       Category: Interior Finish
Panels will be anchored to 3/4' aluminum angle. Sheet metal skills are improving, but very slowly. The new 36" brake is most helpful, though the sharp edges cry out for some file work.

May 02, 2022     Side panels - (6 hours)       Category: Interior Finish
Continued fitting the aluminum panels along the left side of the cockpit.

Apr 30, 2022     Design Changes Have Consequences - (33.5 hours) Category: Interior Finish
I learned to fly in a Citabria, which has the trim control on the left side, below the throttle. Mr. Barrows designed the Patrol with the trim control above and behind the pilot's head. Just didn't work for me, so I moved it. As a result, I have cables running along the left side of the cockpit, front and rear, all the way back through the baggage compartment. Seemed like a control jam situation waiting to happen. So, I've spent the last few weeks fabricating aluminum panels to protect the cables, and prevent a future inconvenience. Many re-dos, as the design develops. (photos to follow in a future post.

Mar 07, 2022     Protecting Controls.2 - (10 hours)       Category: Interior Finish
Continued fitting and adjusting the side panel that will protect the trim cables and rod connecting fore and aft throttle controls. (2 work days)

Mar 01, 2022     Protecting the Controls - (14 hours)       Category: Interior Finish
Continued work on the .025 panel on the left side . Fabricated several L-shaped brackets with nut plates attached. These were attached to fuselage tubing with Adel clamps. The shroud ended up a two-piece affair. The inner piece was bent at the edges to add stiffness, and will anchor the fabric at the bottom. the top piece will be covered with Ceconite to match the rest of the interior. Using a small router, mounted on a pivoting base, I cut an arc in the top piece to fit around the trim control. (3 work days)

Feb 28, 2022     Side Panel - (5 hours)       Category: Interior Finish
Made a couple adjustments to the original design to better accommodate removal for inspection. Cut and fit the panel. Will add inspection holes at quadrants, inside and out.

Feb 24, 2022     Pre-Cover preparation.2 - (6 hours) Category: Interior Finish
Fabricated a mockup of a .025 panel to protect throttle linkage and trim cables @ left side.
