Jul 13, 2021     Hangar check Category: Workshop
I periodically check for hangar availability cause the waiting time fluctuates a bit in my area. The nearest is not the cheapest, in general for the Houston area one could expect $500-$600 for a central location. There are much more low cost places, but that would entail 1 hour driving each direction and I know that would be limiting the time spent on final assembly. Currently the nearest is $500+ with a waiting time approximately 8-9 months. Not cheap, but with a 10 min drive I know I would make progress. 8-9 month is probably what I need to get to the final assembly stage.

Aug 30, 2013     DRDT-2 Dimple Table and workbench - (4.00 hours) Category: Workshop
DRDT-2 Arrived today so I could to the assembly of the table. The reason to wait until I had the DRDT-2 was the uncertainty about the exact height. I used the unit itself to set the height, glued and screwed the pieces together.

I also added casters to the EAA 1000 table, they flip up and down as needed. I prefer this type as the table is more stable when resting on it's own feet.

Aug 25, 2013     Construction of workbench - (7.00 hours)       Category: Workshop
While waiting for the toolkit from PlaneTools I started to construct a EAA 1000 style table. Modified the top plate to be 30" by 66" to create a 3" overhang suitable for clamping.

It was a hot day, had to take cool-down breaks and chat with neighbors.

Aug 18, 2013     Table for dimpler - (1.00 hour) Category: Workshop
Started to build the table for the DRDT-2 dimpler. Cut all the pieces, but I'll wait until the DRDT-2 arrives before doing the final assembly.
