Mar 26, 2022     Moving the project       Category: Miscellaneous
Got some help from fellow builders to borrow trailer and move the wings and fuselage. With many experienced hand it went smoothly. I'm now a proud builder with bug splatter on my fuselage. Thank you Peter, Dan, Brian and Phil.

Mar 20, 2022     Not transport damage       Category: Miscellaneous
I had suppressed this damage from earlier. This is what happens when the HS takes flight from the workbench without ATC clearance. Not structural and should be able to be straightened out.

Sep 19, 2021     Slight Detour Part II Category: None
Well underway for my rescusitated PPL efforts. Hoping to solo (again) soon, just need to get the student license approved by FAA.

Sep 04, 2021     Slight Detour Part I - (0.5 hour) Category: Training
Building slowed down slightly while I finish up my PPL. I started a few years back, but never finished. So now I have decided to focus on the flying for a few weeks/month, whatever it takes to get the PPL.

Aug 28, 2021     Noisy intercom - solved Category: Avionics
I had a friend from University visiting. He's an airline pilot and was very interested in my RV build. I brought the the avionics rig outside and fired it up. I also hung the GTN and GTX antennas on the wooden fence to get a GPS lock and also test the air to air ADSB. As soon as I got a lock the traffic started to show up. I picked up traffic from all altitudes and to top it off the noise interference on the intercom was now gone. All in all a successful Avionics demo and also one interference snag out of the way.

Aug 26, 2021     Noisy intercom - problem - (1 hour) Category: Avionics
With the voice command configuration out of the way, I started to look into the noise in the intercom. I was pretty sure it was one of the LRU with an antenna, so I used the VP-X to turn on and off the suspects. It was pretty easy to identify the GTX 45R, it makes sense as this is the only one transmitting. Now I just have to figure out if it is due to the antenna proximity (everything is located on the workbench for now) or something else.

Aug 25, 2021     Audio panel configuration - (1 hour)       Category: Avionics
After some assistance from Garmin support, I was ready to configure the GMA 350c for voice commands. The GMA comes with software disabled discrete inputs. Two of these are used for PTC (Pilot and Copilot). With config. software from Garmin and a USB/Audio cable I was able to enable the two discrete in question. Immediately the voice commands worked and I ended up spending an hour giving commands to the GTN and GMA. Very much like the wife do to me...
Only issue was that the read back was somewhat choppy, like someone turned on and off the intercom. Need to look into the noise/interference.
