Measured Randy's engine with our spinner backplate in place. Determined our engine is 3 3/16” low. Will need to call VR3 and have thrustline changed and new tubing cut.

Installed mount to engine. Put dielectric grease on bushings to eliminated friction for torque. Torqued bolts to 40 inch lbs. per lycoming manual. Installed engine to fuselage and torqued fuselage bolts.

Initial install of engine mount to engine. Torqued to 40 in lbs and measured the distance between rubber bushings for spec of 1.80”. Removing mount tomorrow and putting dielectric grease on bushing to let them slide in mount easier. Hopefully this will allow rubber bushings to seat better in the engine mount.

Picked up Mount from the powder coater. Reamed all holes to remove powder coat for clearance for bolts

Fabricated air exit fairing to smooth transiting out of cowl. Used slip rollers to form. Drilled to lower flange of firewall. Took engine mount to powder coater.

Fit engine mount to airframe and engine to verify fit. Welded on washers where mount bolts to engine. Practiced rolling pieces for air exit transition fairing on firewall to smooth out airflow coming out of the cowl.

Installed alternator mount to crankcase. lol Removed crankcase bolts and replaced with 1/4” longer lycoming bolts. Torqued to spec. Needed to make a bushing to install in alternator mount where alternator mounts. Alternator uses 5/16” bolt and mount had 3/8” hole. Made bushing from aluminum stock and turned at Dave's on lathe to fit mount.

Continue to practice cutting pvc for mount. Used a computer program to get the cut outline for the tubing. You enter the tubing specs and angle and it generates the desired cut pattern. Determined final dimensions of mount for clearance at engine.

Used pvc tubing to determine where tubes will go. Marked steel plate for the 4 threaded rods that will support the upper plate. This plate will be set on a 1 degree right thrust per RANs drawing
