May 17, 2021     Inner Baffle Fuel Line - (2.3 hours)       Category: Avionics
I located and drilled the inner cylinder baffle for the fuel line the goes from the servo to the spider. Kinda tricky, but not so bad. Protected it with a rubber grommet. The red cube (fuel totalizer) will interface at the top.

May 16, 2021     ADAHRS Calibration - (1.8 hours)       Category: Avionics
Received the replacement GSU 25 ADAHRS unit from Garmin. John and I pushed the plane to a nearby dirt field to avoid ferrous metal for calibration of the magnetometer. Tracey jumped in to give us the incremental commands to turn the plane as it calibrated. It worked! I now see the sky and ground, rather than just plain black on the PFD screen. There is even a little bit of Pike's Peak and the runway on synthetic vision. It just came to life!

May 16, 2021     GPS Shelf - (1.2 hours)       Category: Avionics
Spent a little time getting the GPS final installed. I'm happy with the result. Can be removed to make access to the oil filter easier. Shouldn't be much signal shadowing.

May 01, 2021     AHRS Calibration - (3.3 hours)       Category: Avionics
Got help from Bob and John today. Leveled the plane and performed some of the AHRS calibration and other settings. All that passed. Got the battery installed so we could keep the system alive without a power supply. This was cool, because it's the first time the plane is powered without a cord. We pushed it into a nearby dirt lot because there could not be any ferrous material near the magnetometer for calibration. I was seated inside, while they guys rotated the plane clockwise at the prescribed levels, with a periodic hold. The Garmin System instructs all and makes this easy! Unfrotunatley, I kept getting a "leveling wings" error that could not be cleared. The fun part is when the guys pushed me back from the field while a stayed in the plane "flying". We checked all wiring...no errors. Software was all updated...still not good. We traded my AHRS with John's. They problems disappeared. Now we know I have a bad unit. Have contacted Garmin for a replacement.

Apr 08, 2021     GPS Shelf - (1.2 hours)       Category: Avionics
Part of the powdercoating I received includes a GPS shelf I made for the engine compartment. The WAAS antenna is shown and I still have two of the small black Garmin antennas that will flank it to install. Made all this removeable for maintenance. Lives above the oil filter.

Jun 19, 2019     G3 X Panel - (4.2 hours)       Category: Avionics
Worked until dark getting a few more things completed on the panel. Not all sensors, etc. are attached yet, but power and ground to most items are active. Lotsa work, but I'm happy with it!
