Mar 11, 2024     45-7 Cabin Doors and Transparency Hinge Covers - (2 hours)       Category: Doors
Used Bondo to smooth out irregularities. Used rubber seal (2 mm thick) to have a consistent gap for the door. I used epoxy and flox to improve the door opening flanges. Now curing and then sanding.

Mar 11, 2024     45-7 Cabin Doors and Transparency Hinge Covers - (1 hour) Category: Doors

Mar 10, 2024     45-7 Cabin Doors and Transparency Hinge Covers - (1 hour)       Category: Doors
Mixed epoxy flox and silica to cover the wooden hinge covers for the left door. I also used the epoxy mix to support better the door strut bracket.

Mar 09, 2024     45-7 Cabin Doors and Transparency Hinge Covers - (2 hours) Category: Doors
Modified and sanded the left door hinge cover.
sanded right door to get a 2.5mm gap on the bottom of the door
Countersunk the open holes on the side skins around the door opening. They have been used to form the doors, but there is no indication in the kit instruction on how to deal with these holes. This step has not been done in the Quickbuild phase and i didn't realize that Section 29-14 step 9

Mar 08, 2024     45-7 Cabin Doors and Transparency Hinge Covers - (1 hour)       Category: Doors
Left door wooden cover installed with rapid epoxy

Mar 06, 2024     45-13 Cabin doors and transparencies Planearound Door Latch - (2 hours) Category: Doors
temporary install of right side door. Movement is not smooth. I will probably need to check the delrin blocks on the fuselage and check if they can be moved slightly outboard.
Trimmed right door front to have 3 mm gap.

Mar 05, 2024     45-7 Cabin Doors and Transparency Hinge Covers - (1 hour)       Category: Doors
prepared door hinge cover with plywood for the right door. glued to the door with rapid epoxy

Mar 04, 2024     45-13 Cabin door and transparencies Step Planearound - (1 hour) Category: Doors
started to cut the door latch covers using 5mm plywood.

repositioned slightly the left forward delrin door pin guide and sanded a bit to have less interference with the radius on the door flange. Result is that the door is only 2,5 mm proud forward and 1,9 backward. Registered the middle door latch, now less then 1 mm proud of fuselage.
Pretty happy with the result. I will try to sand the pin guide a little bit more...if that is not enough i believe that 2mm can be adjusted with some epoxy and flox on the fuselage to smooth out everything

Feb 28, 2024     45-14 Cabin doors and transparencies Planearound Door Latch - (1.5 hours) Category: Doors
Removed the planeraound door latch blocks. Sanded the epoxy excess and tested the fitting. Installed the cam on the left door and tested operation.
For the right door i need to reinstall the door first.

Feb 27, 2024     45-13 Cabin doors and transparencies Planearound Door Latch - (2 hours)       Category: Doors
I needed to remove part of the carbon fiber and epoxy using the dremel to allow a better sitting of the plane around cabin block. After that i used some epoxy and flox under the cabin block to create a better sitting surface. My concern is that with the cam pulling strongly the delrin block could move too much.
