Feb 19, 2024     46-4 Engine mount and Landing Gear step 1-2 - (3 hours) Category: Landing Gear
Lifted the fuselage using the small crane. Positioned both gear legs. Difficulties on the left side due to the powder coating making impossible to insert to final position. Sanded away part of the powder coating. Inserted and positioned using smaller drill bits (back side) until 7,9MM back of the drill bit could be inserted. Final drilled with 7.9 mm drill. Used the 0.311" reamed for finishing step.
Done on both sides.

Dec 15, 2023     38-3 Beringer Brake System Brake Lines Torque - (3 hours)       Category: Landing Gear
Verified again torquing on Beringer brake lines. There are two different set of instructions. The General torquing instruction indicate to torque the brake line fitting down to 0-1 visible threads, while the RV10 brake kit instruction indicate to torque to 90-132 lbs/in. At the end i decided to torque to the more precise indication contained in the RV10 Brake Kit Documentation.

Dec 12, 2023     Beringer Brake and Wheel assembly - (5 hours)       Category: Landing Gear
Identified the different parts (VANS and Beringer) for Wheel and brake assembly. Preliminary assembly of the Brake and Wheel Assembly.

Apr 05, 2023     29-10 New Landing Gear Service Bulletin SB00007 - (5 hours)       Category: Landing Gear
SB00007 final torque of all the bolts: The nuts are metal self locking nuts MS20142-3-4-5 and we torqued to 42Lbs/in the MS21042-3, to 110lbs/in the MS21042-4 and to 160lbs/in the MS21042-5.
Marked all the nuts with yellow marker.

Apr 01, 2023     29-10 New Landing Gear Service Bulletin SB00007 - (5 hours)       Category: Landing Gear
Almost done with the SB00007 Service Bulletin (changing Gear Leg Mounts).
Lucio did again most of the work with my assistance. We inserted all the bolts starting from the AN5 in the onboard corner....and then slowly moving into the different sides and bolt sizes. We needed some lubricant but finally we have been able to insert all the bolts. A little help from the rivet gun at very very low pressure for one AN4 at the bottom...very unfortunate location, but at the end even that one went in. I torqued all the AN3, but for the AN4 i need to wait for a bigger torque wrench as mine goes up only to 46lbs/in.
As the SB00007 indicates to use selflocking metal bolts (MS21042-3/4/5) i torqued the AN3 to 28+14 (friction)=42 lbs/in. I need to wait for a bigger torque wrench for the others.

Mar 26, 2023     29-10 New Landing Gear Service Bulletin SB00007 - (6 hours) Category: Landing Gear
Lucio did the dirty work today match drilling the gear support flanges through the skins. As i misdrilled some holes in the doubler the work was a bit tricky, but as always Lucio'skills solved the issue and the gear mount fits in position. Some bolts will be tough to install, but with some lubricant and a gentle hammer i am confident we will be able to install.

Mar 09, 2023     29-10 New Landing Gear Service Bulletin SB00007 - (4 hours)       Category: Landing Gear
Matchdrilled the left reinforcement plate, deburred the holes. Test fitting of both landing gear support. Right hand landing gear support is in place with the positioning bolts and few other bolts, but it is a bit difficult to position the other bolts. The left hand landing gear support is in position with the positioning bolts, but the other bolts don't get in.
I checked the belly landing gear hole and it seems that i need to to some filing and adjusting, maybe after that it will be easier to insert the other bolts

Mar 05, 2023     29-10 New Landing Gear Service Bulletin SB00007 - (2 hours) Category: Landing Gear
Countersunk the three rivet holes on both sides in order to allow double flush rivet installation. Installed the double flush rivets on both sides.
Installed the doubler on the right side, checked alignment of the bottom four holes, match drilled all the #30 holes. deburred all the holes. Unfortunately a bad drill bit created few oblonged holes in the doubler.

Feb 13, 2023     29-10 New Landing Gear Service Bulletin SB00007 - (5 hours)       Category: Landing Gear
Start of the retrofitting the Landing Gear mount following Service Bulletin SB00007. Although there are obviously no crack on the mounts i decided to implement the SB00007 right away in order to reduce difficult work once the airplane is built. Considering that i will operate from grass fields i believe it would be better to install the new gear mount instead of waiting for cracks to develop.
The kit provided by VANS has detailed instructions, drill guides and drill bushing to facilitate the work. Lucio helped a lot during this work.
The first step has been to drill the holes in the longerons using the drill guides and blocking the drill bushing in position with the help of clamps.
